If Nolan had a girlfriend, Reginaâd never let her old man pull a stunt like that. No matter how head over heels she was for the guy, sheâd fight tooth and nail against it. You canât just use your own feelings to help the person youâre smitten with, can you?
âYouâre talking nonsense. When were you two ever an item? Youâre just green with envy because we tied the knot,â she shot back.
âHeh,â Dahlia said, her urgency fading into a smirk, âWhy the act? My relationship with him is out there for everyone to see. You just swooped in and stole him away. Be honest with yourself-do you really have a clear conscience?â
After turning away, Dahliaâs tone shifted again, now playing the part of the heartbroken lover.
âYou know Nolan, heâs such a mamaâs boy. His folks have been on his back to settle down, and I bet he rushed into marrying you just to save face in front of the family. But he promised, didnât he? That after the holidays, weâd take a trip to Paris and elope?
If it wasnât for his family pressure, heâd never in a million years marry someone like you. Could you, I donât know, maybe let us be? Once weâre married, I swear Iâll make it up to you. Please, Iâm begging you, just let us go.â
She suddenly grabbed Reginaâs hand, tears falling like raindrops to the floor.
The heat of her tears startled Regina, who tried to pull away, but Dahliaâs grip was iron-clad, leaving her stuck.
She kept repeating, âNolan never married you. Youâre living a lie. Stop deceiving your âWhoâs the one deceiving themselves here?â asked Regina.
Nolan had never given her the confidence to deal with his exes. Even Regina wasnât su she was the other woman.
She despised those who meddled in othersâ relationships-how could she allow herself become the other woman?
Fortunately, Nolan arrived not long after.
As soon as she saw Nolan, Dahlia stopped her theatrics. Quickly releasing Reginaâs hand, she stood to the side, wiping away her tears.
Nolan headed straight for Regina, taking her hand gently to check for any injuries.
Regina, feeling shy, withdrew her hand.
âAre you hurt?â Nolan asked, concern in his eyes.
Regina smiled briefly and shook her head. âIâm fine. Why donât you check on Dahlia? She seems to have some misconceptions about us. If thereâs truth to what sheâs saying, Iâll head to the city hall and file for divorce right now. I wonât force you to marry me. Iâll try my best to handle things with my dad.â
Hearing her say this, Nolanâs temper flared.
âIf you could really persuade your father, would we even be having this conversation? Donât bite off more than you can chew. Iâll handle things with Dahlia on my own. You donât need to stick your nose in it.â
With that, he dropped Reginaâs hand. She hugged her arms, confused by his sudden change in attitude. Wasnât he the one who had been reluctant to marry her all along?
