So, Haillie cracked a gentle smile again and whispered, âEllinor, Iâm really sorry, it was a misunderstanding! You shouldâve mentioned your allergy earlier, if you had, we wouldnât have had this mixâup!
Ellinor retorted casually. âSo now youâre trying to play the misunderstanding card, Haillie? You almost painted me as a villain in front of everyone, and now youâre blaming me for not proving my innocence sooner?â
Haillieâs smile was strained, âEllinor, thatâs not what I meanâ¦â
Ellinor laughed, âHaillie, I donât care what you mean, just remember youâre picking up the tab for all this mess!â
Even though Haillie felt uncomfortable, she had to suck it up and nodded, âDonât worry, Ellinor, I messed up. Iâll take the hit. Today was on me, consider it my apologyâ
Just as Ellinor was about to speak, she was suddenly turned around and found Theoâs face in front of hers, startling her.
The man leaned in assertively and checked her ears, then her swollen palms. He looked furious, and barked at the stunned doctor, âWhereâs the antihistamine?â
The doctor was taken aback, then answered, âMr. Blanchet, I didnât bring any with me, Iâll go fetch some right now!â
âThen go now!â He growled impatiently âRight away!â The doctor grabbed his medical kit and rushed out.
Theo then scooped Ellinor up and, without a care for her feelings, carried her out.
Belinda quickly ran after them, âWait for me!â
Watching this scene, Jonah nudged his friend, Kemp Larios, âKemp, do you think Theoâs fallen for her?â
Kemp kept a poker face and replied coldly, âWhy are you asking me?â
Jonah quickly added, âYouâre the expert, arenât you? Werenât you smitten with the Hughes familyâs daughter?â
Seemingly reminded of a painful past, Kemp was irritated, âShut up!â
After scolding Jonah, Kemp walked out.
Jonah shrugged, âBartlett, see, I didnât even say anything and heâs already mad!â
Bartlett chuckled, âYouâre always bringing up things that upset people!â
Inside the dressing room, only Byran Howard remained with Haillie.
âHaillie, let me help you back to your room to rest.â
Haillie was upset, âByran, it seems weâve underestimated her! Ellinor is more cunning than we thought!â
Frowning. Byran was remorseful, âHaillie, you still donât believe Ellinor? She had such a severe reaction to the earrings!â
Haillie scoffed, âWho knows what trick she used?! Maybe she did it to clear her name. I wouldnât put it past her!â
Byran disagreed with Haillie, âHaillie, I think youâre overthinking. Ellinor wouldnât purposely harm you;
sheâs not that kind of person.â
Haillie was taken aback, âByran, what are you saying?â
Byran, who hated Ellinor even more than she did, was actually defending Ellinor!
Byran looked steadfast and innocent, âEllinor is my friend now, I choose to trust her.â
Haillie looked shocked, âFriend? Byran, when did you two become friends? How come I didnât know?â
