Collin bowed his head humbly. âEllinor, youâre too kind! Without Mr. Blanchet, I wouldnât be where I am today. He deserves all the respect,â
Ellinor, who held high regard for Collinâs competence and character, chose to steer the conversation in a different direction. âWhat about him? Why hasnât he come?â
Collin responded truthfully, âMr. Blanchet is on his way. He should arrive shortly.â
Ellinor pouted. âHeâs always like this! Yesterday, he said heâd go grab us some food and be right back, but we ended up with delivery instead!â
Collin chuckled at her remark. âEllinor, youâre being a bit harsh on Mr. Blanchet! He didnât want to worry you, so he didnât disclose everything. Yesterday, our team apprehended Patricia, the mastermind behind Baberâs kidnapping. Mr. Blanchet wanted to ensure she confessed completely, so he personally oversaw the police interrogation. Heâs also taking care of Sophia, making sure neither will be able to stir up trouble again.â
Upon hearing that Patricia was captured, Ellinor felt a wave of relief. She had suspected Patricia was the one spreading rumors in Baberâs kindergarten. The woman was so vile; she even targeted the child she once adopted. It was sickening.
While cradling Baber, Ellinor headed towards the room, âYour Mr. Blanchet, heâs a real heart breaker.
He attracts too much attention from women, which causes a lot of trouble! Donât you dare follow in his footsteps!â
Collin barely managed to hold back a laugh. Ellinor was as blunt as always, hitting the nail on the head.
Not long after returning to the room, a nurse came in to examine Baber. She dressed his wounds, drew some blood, and left, promising to return with the results.
If everything was okay, she could take Baber home soon.
While waiting for the results, the door opened abruptly. Ellinor looked up, expecting the nurse with Baberâs results, but instead, it was Theo.
The sight of the incessant man made her roll her eyes and slump back into her seat.
Noticing her lack of enthusiasm, Theo raised an eyebrow. âWhat? Not happy to see me?â
Ellinor replied, âI thought you were the nurse with Baberâs results.â
âBaba!â Baber called out joyfully, stretching his arms for a hug as he saw his father., Theo walked over, lifting his son into his arms. âGood boy, did you listen to Mommy while I was away?â
Baber replied, âBaber is very good, but Daddy, donât leave for so long next time. Mommy misses you.â
Upon hearing her sonâs betrayal, Ellinor blushed, her gaze shifting uneasily, âAhem, ahem.â
Theo, however, seemed amused. âOh? Is that so? How much did Mommy miss me?â
His gaze settled intently on Ellinorâs face.
Baber, ever the honest child, replied, âVery, very much! Mommy missed you a lot! She kept checking the time and wondering why Daddy wasnât back yet!â
Ellinor, unable to handle her sonâs revelations, snatched Baber from Theoâs arms. âNonsense! When did I ever miss him! Baber, youâre being naughty!â
Baber was confused. He had just wanted to help express the love between his parents.
Theo couldnât help but laugh at Ellinorâs coyness, patting her head and soothing, âSo much resentment towards Theo, huh? My fault, I came back late!â
