Lea stepped out and gave out another order to the men in black standing by. âYou guys make sure you teach this Arnold a lesson. One heâll remember for the rest of his life. The kind thatâll give him nightmares!â
The leader in black nodded. âMiss, we understand!â
With that, they forcefully dragged Arnold out to settle matters outside the hospital grounds, so as not to soil the clean hospital floors.
Lea watched as her fatherâs men took Arnold away, feeling satisfied. Her fatherâs men never showed mercy.
Just as she was about to return to the ward, she noticed an odd gaze fixed on her.
After looking up, she found its source. It was a stunning woman in gold-rimmed glasses whom she thought sheâd just seen in the corridor.
But why was this beautiful woman standing outside Ms. Marlinieâs ward? She wasnât moving, and her gaze was steadfastly fixed on her. It was cause for concern.
Frowning, Lea approached the woman. âHey! Who are you? What are you doing? Why are you just staring at our ward?â
Ida squinted and looked down at her. âNothing. Just passing by.â-
With that, she turned and left with measured steps, heading towards the elevator.
What an odd woman! Leaving without a word?
Lea wanted to follow, but her fatherâs men, stationed at the door, wouldnât allow her to wander off and stopped her.
Helpless, she returned to the ward and complained. âSuch a weird thing just happened! I just saw this woman staring at our ward for a while. When I asked her what she was up to. she left without saying a word.â
Upon hearing this, Marlinie snapped back to reality. âWhat kind of woman?â
âA really attractive, classy woman with gold-rimmed glasses.â
Marlinie thought for a moment, then her pupils slowly contracted in shock. Bertha seemed to have remembered something as well. She looked up to meet her friendâs gaze. An attractive, classy woman with gold-rimmed glasses? Wasnât that the girl theyâd just seen with McNeil?
That girl was indeed very striking. She left a deep impression with just one glance.
Had someone from the Howard family found them? This soon?
Marlinie turned pale. âBertha, heâs found me. We canât wait any longer! Quick, help me get dischargedâ¦â
The emotional roller coaster had left Marlinie weak. She felt dizzy and almost fainted as she spoke.
Bertha had also been considering helping Marlinie get discharged, but after seeing her in such a state, she decided Marlinieâs health was the priority.
So she tried to calm her. âMarlinie, calm down. Itâs not necessarily someone from the Howard family.
Maybe that woman was just passing by.â
Marlinie weakly replied. âNo⦠Must be⦠Bertha, get me out of here⦠I donât want to see him⦠I canât see himâ¦â
Bertha gently patted Marlinieâs shoulder. âOkay, okay! You wonât see him. I wonât let you see him.â
