Byran was the first to break the silence. âSis, what were you and Theo up to? Whatâs the deal with this nurse?â
Ellinor blushed, unsure of how to respond.
Ida elbowed Byran, hinting at him to keep quiet. She then approached Ellinor, asking with concern, âBoss, are you okay?â
Ellinor nodded. âIâm fine. Ida. What are you doing at the hospital?â
Ida shot a disgruntled look at Byran. âThis guy tricked me into coming. I happened to see Sophia when I arrived and thought something was off, so I came over to investigate.â
Ellinor glanced at the two of them, narrowing her eyes slightly. âSo, youâve already met his father?â
Idaâs face stiffened. Even she, the usually cool and composed woman, couldnât help but blush. âBoss, itâs not what you think.â
Byran leaned in and interrupted. âItâs exactly what you think, Sis. I introduced Ida to our dad. He seemed quite fond of her. I think heâll approve of our marriage⦠Ouch!â
Before he could finish, he was abruptly interrupted by another elbow jab from Ida, cutting him off mid-
sentence.
Byran winced in pain and pouted. âIda, even if I wasnât injured, you donât have to be so rough. Are you trying to murder your husband-to-be?â
Ida glared at him. âShut up! If you keep talking nonsense, Iâll break up with you!â
Byran quickly backed down. âPlease, Idaâ¦â
âCough!â Balfour couldnât stand his younger brotherâs submissive demeanor and said in a deep voice, âGo back upstairs and keep an eye on Dad. Stop whining here; youâre not acting like a man.â
Byran instantly became more submissive, but he didnât forget to mumble something under his breath, âWhen my brother finds a woman he likes, he might be even more whiny than me.â Although his voice was low, Balfour heard it, and his face darkened in an instant. He furrowed his brows. âWhat did you say? Speak up!â
Byran shivered. âNothing! I said nothing! Uh⦠sis, what should we do with this nurse?â
Afraid of being beaten by his brother, he quickly shifted the focus back to Ellinor.
Ellinor glanced coldly at the nurse on the floor who had tried to take advantage of her man. âJust leave her. Sheâll wake up on her own.â
Byran looked somewhat worried. âArenât you afraid sheâll say something to the doctor when she wakes up?â
Ellinor smirked and glanced subtly at Balfour. âShe wonât say a thing, right, Mr. Howard?â
Balfour got the hint from his sister, raising his hand to pat her on the head. âYes, she wonât say a thing.
Donât worry.â
Ellinor shrugged. âAlright, Sophia mustâve left by now. We should get going too.â
With that, she stepped over the nurse on the floor and headed for the door.
Balfour followed closely behind his sister.
Byran stood in place, looking confused. âWhat does that mean? Why wonât the nurse say anything when she wakes up? How can my sister and brother be so sure?â
Ida shot him a disdainful look. âAre you coming or not?â
Byran hurriedly followed Ida, asking, âIda, do you know why my brother and sister are so confident about the nurse? I feel like sheâll definitely report this to the doctor as soon as she wakes up.â
