Thaddeus didnât want to keep talking about this past event with his daughter. He waved his hand to interrupt her. âEnough! I just want you two to stop quarreling. You two are my only daughters; I donât want to see any discord between you two.â
Sophia reluctantly nodded. âAlright. I understand how you feel, Dad. I wonât be mad at my sister anymore, and Iâll try to get along with her.â
Thaddeus patted Sophiaâs shoulder with relief. âThatâs my girl!â
Sophia suppressed her resentment. She thought to herself that once she successfully inherited all her fatherâs wealth, she would settle the scores with her stepmother and sister.
By the time they reached the hotel, it was already over an hour later.
Thaddeus checked into the same hotel as his daughter Sophia. After ordering his men to take care of their luggage, he went with his wife and younger daughter to Sophiaâs suite to see his son-in-law.
When Marcus saw Thaddeus, he was calm and nodded slightly. âFather, welcome.â
Thaddeus snorted disapprovingly with his hands behind his back. âSo you remember Iâm your father?
You didnât even go to the airport with Sophia to pick us up!â
âI apologize. I wasnât feeling well. Please forgive me, Father.â
Thaddeus looked at his son-in-lawâs legs, which were in a wheelchair, and grew more annoyed.
Sophia didnât want her father to blame Marcus. She tugged at her fatherâs arm and then walked over to her man.
As she got closer, she noticed that Marcusâs forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat.
âMarcus, why are you sweating so much?â
Sophia was a bit worried and touched his forehead. âOh my! Your forehead is hot. Are you sick? Do you have a fever?â
Marcus shook his head lightly and gently pushed Sophiaâs hand away. âItâs nothing. Itâs just a little headache.â
He could only say that. He couldnât tell the truth that he had been secretly doing physical therapy while she was out and hadnât had time to wash off his sweat.
âYour headache must be because of the fever. Marcus, go back to your room and rest. Iâll call a doctor to come over and check on you.â Sophia was so worried that she didnât even haye time to say goodbye to her father. She quickly pushed Marcus back to their room, trying to get him to lie down for a while.
Thaddeus watched his daughter worry over Marcus and felt frustrated. âHmph, heâs such a weakling. If I had known, I would have been gentler back then and left him with one leg. Sophia wouldnât have to suffer with such a useless man.â
Bertha sighed and held Thaddeusâs arm. âLet it be. He doesnât want to be like this either. Letâs go back to our room and let Sophia and Marcus rest.â
Thaddeus sighed and followed his wife out.
Lea also wanted to leave with her parents, but as she was about to turn around, she noticed Adrian, who was watching them from not far away. She recognized the boy but thought he was Tristan.
So she walked over and extended a hand to Adrian. âShall we go? Letâs hang out together.â
Adrian didnât know Lea and shook his head.
Lea frowned at Adrian. âDonât you remember me? Iâm your aunt.â
Sophia didnât like to let Tristan meet people, so she rarely had the chance to see him. It wasnât surprising that Tristan didnât recognize her/
Adrian blinked. ââ¦Aunt?â
Lea naturally assumed Adrian was addressing her and nodded. âLetâs go! I brought you a present this time. Itâs a Mechanical Hero toy from the 744 series. Youâll love it!â
