Ellinor was silent. She was only focusing on her drive towards Blue River Estates.
Bartlett was always a chatterbox. He could go on and on, even when there was nothing to talk about.
âEllinor, where were you earlier? At a friendâs place?â
Ellinor, of course, had no intention of revealing Theoâs appearance to outsiders. âEven if I told you, you wouldnât know them.â
Bartlett looked innocent. âI was just curious.â.
âThanks for your concern.â Ellinor responded. âBut letâs stick to business today, shall we?â
Bartlett sighed. âEllinor, you really know how to shoot me down, donât you?â
Ellinor was indifferent. âItâs not that I dislike you. Iâm just not interested in you.â
Bartlett groaned. âThatâs even worse! Ellinor, do you have to be so blunt? Youâre breaking my heart!â
Ellinor found him annoying. Her gaze darkened, and she warned, âHold on!â
Before Bartlett could react, Ellinor floored it, and the car zoomed off.
By the time they arrived at their destination, Bartlett was almost green in the face.
Ellinor got out of the car as if nothing had happened and began surveying the large piece of land.
âWhich part belongs to Rex Enterprises?â
There was no response Ellinor turned around in surprise to see Bartlett leaning against a tree, retching.
Was she really driving that fast?
After a while, Bartlett managed to straighten up. While patting his chest, he said, âEllinor, where did you learn to drive? That was⦠That was like a roller-coaster ride.â Ellinor was expressionless. âMr. Rex, pull yourself together. Letâs get down to business.â
âEllinor, youâre really not a soft-hearted woman, huh?â Bartlett pointed out a small area. âThatâs Rex Enterprisesâ land.â
Ellinor followed his direction. âItâs small.â
Bartlett didnât deny it. âYeah, but the location is great, isnât it? Itâs the perfect addition to the land you recently acquired.â
Ellinor squinted her eyes in thought. âWhy donât you sell me your land?â
Bartlett shook his head. âI canât do that, Ellinor. My intention has always been to develop Blue River Estates in partnership with the Blanchet Corporation. If I wanted to sell the land to you, why would I even bring up this proposal?â
Sophia returned hotel as the evening approached.
She stopped by a supermarket to buy some groceries.
She had developed a fondness for cooking meals for Marcus. Each time, he would thank her with a rare, gentle word of appreciation.
These words might not mean much to others, but for Sophia, they were a rare show of affection from her beloved man.
And being able to watch the man she loved eat the meal she had prepared for him gave her a sense of contentment.
