Sophia maintained her insincere smile. âBut donât you think you could let your mom hold you a bit?
Youâve changed so much, itâs like youâre not my Tristan anymore.â
Adrian only felt guilt towards those he cared about. As for Sophia, he didnât feel guilty at all, just annoyed.
Sophia was clearly trying to fish for information, all the while acting like she was so sweet and approachable. How hypocritical!
Adrian wasnât flustered at all and retorted with an air of arrogance. âIâve grown up now. I donât like being held by women; is that so strange? Hmph!â
Sophia leaned closer to him as her gaze turned stern. âAre you really my Tristan? Lying children have to swallow a thousand needles, you know.â
Adrian already disliked Sophia, and seeing her act this way just made her seem like a wicked old witch to him.
âYou gave birth to me. Canât you tell if Iâm your child? Unless Iâm not your son!â
His response left Sophia speechless.
âAre you going to call room service for food or not? If not, Iâm going to find Dad!â Adrian urged her impatiently.
Sophia snapped back to reality, dropping her stern gaze and forcing a smile. âIâm calling right now. Just hang on.â
Adrian snorted. âHurry up. Iâm starving!â
Sophia took a deep breath, suppressing her frustration.
Just wait and see. One day she would teach this brat a lesson!
She guessed that he might be enjoying himself here, not having to attend preschool and having a ton of toys to play with, so he decided to stay here and take advantage of them.
The boy himself probably didnât understand his true relationship with Marcus and likely hadnât revealed anything to him, in fear of being sent back if discovered.
Fine, sheâd let it slide for now. What good could possibly come from something birthed by Ellinor?!
While Ellinor was busy at work at the Blanchet Corporation, Balfour suddenly came to find her.
However, he didnât come up but called her from his car parked outside the building.
âEllinor, Iâm outside the Blanchet Corporation. Come down for a moment; I need to talk to you.â
Normally, when Balfour spoke with such brevity and seriousness, it meant that something was really up.
Ellinor put down the unfinished documents and went out.
When she reached the ground floor, the sun was shining brightly.
Quinton, the driver, respectfully opened the car door for her. After thanking him, Ellinor got into the car.
Balfour was sitting in the car with his eyes closed, only opening them slowly when he heard her get in.
He glanced at his sister.
âDid I interrupt your work?â
Ellinor shrugged. âWhether you did or not, youâve already interrupted me. Mr. Howard, whatâs up?â
Balfourâs gaze was complex and deep. âDo you remember the painting I gave you last time?â
Ellinorâs eyes sparkled as she nodded instantly. âOf course I remember! You said it might have been recently painted by Lady Lotus. When you got it, the paint was still fresh!â
âRight, that painting. My friend contacted me today, saying that her art teacher has returned from her painting trip.â Balfour said gravely.
Ellinorâs pupils trembled slightly. âDoes that mean we can meet Lady Lotus now?â
