Sophia was overjoyed. âDad, your presence will surely sort out all these issues. Then, as a family, we can return to M State. I can finally start preparing for my wedding with Marcus!â
âSure, sweetie, just leave it to me!â
After hanging up the call with her father, Sophia felt a wave of relief.
Now that her father was personally dealing with the situation, no one would have the guts to act disloyal.
At that moment, the door to the master bedroom in the hotel closed gently. Marcus, still in his wheelchair, turned around to find Adrian awake, standing behind him as his big eyes blinked curiously at him.
âSir, what were you sneakily watching?â
The childâs eyes were filled with curiosity.
Marcus held a finger to his lips and whispered, âFrom now on, whether weâre in public or private, you have to call me dad.â
Adrian blinked. âOh⦠Is that okay? I thought you didnât like me calling you dad.â
Marcus squinted. âHm? Why would you think that?â
Adrian pouted. âBecause Iâm not your biological son after all. I thought you wouldnât be happy if another kid called you dad.â
After looking at this kid, who was a spitting image of Tristan, albeit with a different demeanor and personality, Marcus knew he was also his child.
Marcus reached out to gently ruffle Adrianâs hair. âIâm happy when you call me dad.â
Adrian appeared surprised. âReally? Youâre not annoyed with me?â
Marcus pursed his lips. âWhy would I be annoyed with you?â
Adrian beamed and huddled closer to Marcus. âDad! You donât like that lady called Sophia, do you?â
Caught off-guard by the childâs question, Marcus paused. âWhy would you think that?â
Adrian whispered, âBecause you never smile when you see her. My mom says that when you like someone, you canât help but smile when you see them, and you always want to look at them. But you never smile at Sophia, and you donât seem to look at her much.â
Marcus remained silent. He indeed didnât have feelings for Sophia.
Despite having no memories of anyone, he felt his heart flutter when he saw the young girl named Ellinor.
Perhaps, as Balfour had suggested when he visited, Marcus had a deep connection and love for Ellinor.
âAlright, donât make wild guesses about adultsâ matters.â Marcus didnât answer the child directly.
Adrian rolled his eyes. âDad, after you break up with Sophia, Iâll introduce you to my mom. Sheâs very pretty!â
Marcus was amused by the child. He teased, âYouâre introducing your mom to me? Arenât you afraid your dad will get angry?â
Adrian smirked. âMy dad⦠He wonât come back. Mom misses him every day, but whatâs the point? My siblings and I just want her to be happy. Thatâs what matters! Plus, I think youâre handsome and kind;
you could help my mom forget my dad since heâll never come home.â
Marcus paused. âYour mom misses your dad every day? How?â
Adrian pondered. âWell⦠She would sit in my dadâs study and zone out for a while every day. She must be thinking of my dad. My mom is very gentle, so she never shares her unhappiness because she doesnât want others to feel sad too.â
