Chase hummed lightly as he turned his gaze toward Belinda. âBelinda, a lady should not be easily trifled with in the outside world. Give him a taste of his own medicine!â
As he spoke, his eyes dropped to the glass of orange juice next to Belinda. His intent was as clear as day.
Belinda understood Chaseâs meaning, and having long grown tired of Dominic, abandoned her ladylike demeanor. She removed the straw from her glass, picked up the orange juice, and splashed it onto Dominicâs face.
Splash!
Dominic had no time to react. In an instant, he found himself drenched in sticky juice. His expensive suit, donned specifically for the blind date, was ruined.
His temper flared immediately, and his hand lifted. âYou littleâ¦â
Chase cleared his throat. âShow some respect to women!â
Dominic froze mid-motion, the insult dying on his lips.
He could afford no mishaps. He couldnât risk losing his hard-earned job at a reputable company.
Forcing a smile onto his face, he said, âMs. Wesley, if this makes you feel better, I accept it.â
Then he turned to Chase. âMr. Larios, am I not showing respect to women now?â
Chase barely glanced at him. âYou can leave now.â
Dominic anxiously whispered, âSo, can I start at Crescent Society tomorrow?â
Chase nodded. âYes.â
Relieved, Dominic smiled and shot Belinda a spiteful gaze. âThen, Mr. Larios, Iâll take my leave. I wouldnât want to impose.â
After watching Dominic stride away, Belinda frowned at Chase. âWhy would you let someone like him work at the company? He clearly doesnât respect women!â
A soft smile surfaced in Chaseâs eyes. âOf course I know that.â
Belinda was puzzled. âThen why did you allow him to join the company?â
Chase gently drummed on her disgruntled face. âHe bullied you. Dousing him in juice wonât cut it. At the company, Iâll have plenty of time to deal with him.â Belinda blushed and avoided Chaseâs gaze. âHe was just rude. Itâs nothing serious. Besidesâ¦
Chase leaned in, whispering, âBesides what?â
His proximity and warm breath on her ear turned her entire face crimson.
âBesides, him bullying me has nothing to do with you.â Belinda avoided his gaze, hiding her blush.
However, Chase rested his chin on her shoulder, his tone suggestive. âWho said it has nothing to do with me? I canât stand, nor tolerate anyone bullying you!â
Feeling the sudden weight on her shoulder, Belinda exclaimed, âAh! Youâ¦youâ¦youâ¦sit on the other side! Itâs veryâ¦hot!â.
Chase lifted his chin and chuckled. âThe restaurantâs air-conditioned. Why are you hot? Is it because of my closeness?â
His tone carried a certain implication.
Belindaâs face grew even redder as she turned towards him. âStop talking nonsense, or Iâll get mad
