Sophia was testing her.
Ellinor, in her summer dress, looked somewhat surprised. âThree at once? Ms. Sophia, you seem to have a faulty memory. I do have three children, but I only birthed twins. The eldest, Baber, was adopted due to unique circumstances. Have you forgotten?â
Sophia stared into her eyes. âIs that so? I heard that you had triplets.â
Could it be that Ellinor knew about the mix-up?
When she saw Ellinor talking softly to Tristan, she couldnât clearly hear their conversation.
Ellinor knew what Sophia was getting at and looked at her in shock. âWhat? You heard about that too?
I remember clearly during one of my prenatal checkups that the doctor told me I was carrying triplets, but only twins were born.
I kept telling myself that I must have misremembered, but now youâre telling me you heard the same rumor.
Ms. Sophia, who told you this? Are they informed? Did someone steal one of my babies?â
Sophia, taken aback by Ellinorâs frantic demeanor, distanced herself from her. âAhem, I forgot who mentioned it. They just said you had three children. Maybe they were including the adopted one.ââ
Ellinor looked disappointed. âI see⦠I thought you knew something that could prove I really was pregnant with triplets.â
Sophia was suspicious as she watched Ellinorâs current state.
Through their conversation, Sophia gained a rough understanding of the situation. Ellinor didnât seem to know about the triplets, and everyone around her was concealing it.
She had a vague memory of a doctor telling her she was pregnant with triplets.
Right now, it was highly likely she didnât know about the mix-up because she didnât know or wasnât sure that she had another child.
Sophia was deep in thought, and then she glanced at Tristan, who was earnestly picking out toys and deliberately called out his name.
Tristan!â
Tristan, who had just picked up a box of toys, froze. Upon hearing Sophiaâs voice, he dropped the toy box and stumbled backward.
Ellinor rushed over to check on her son, but she was calling out Adrianâs name.
âAdrian, whatâs wrong? Are you okay? Let Mommy see.â
After watching Ellinor rush over while calling out âAdrian,â Sophiaâs suspicions were more or less dispelled.
Moreover, she confirmed another point. The child with Ellinor was Tristan, and the other child was Adrian.
After checking that her son wasnât injured, she helped him pick up his toys. âYou wanted this, didnât you?â
Tristan didnât look at the toy and turned his gaze to where Sophiaâs voice had come from, but she was no longer there.
Ellinor saw her sonâs reaction and looked in the same direction. Sophia had already left.
She narrowed her eyes, knowing full well what was going on.
Running into Sophia here was no coincidence. Sophia had deliberately sought her out to test her.
Just before she left the Blanchet Villa, she received an anonymous text message on her phone.
âSophia probably knows about the mix-up and that you have another child. Stay calm and donât let her find out you know about me and the mix-up.â
There was no signature, but Ellinor recognized it immediately as a warning from him.
