Adrian shook his head unhappily, eyeing her with a worried look. âMommy, are we going to the hospital for a shot now?â
Ellinor paused and then laughed. âNo, sweetheart. Weâre just going to have a chat with a doctor. No shots, I promise. Now, have your breakfast.â
Relieved, Adrian took the sandwich and began nibbling on it listlessly.
Belinda looked troubled. âIâm introducing a friend to you today. Why do you want him to chat with Adrian?â
âIsnât your friend a psychologist? He can help us out with Adrian, right?â
Belinda sighed as she took a bite of her sandwich. âWell, I guess⦠Fine! Weâll all be sitting and chatting anyway.â
Ellinor didnât think much of Belindaâs remark. She looked down at her son as her eyes filled with complex emotions.
She remembered seeing her other child, who was identical to Adrian, even downâ to the way he slept.
She had the urge to snatch her child away, but she didnât want to scare him. Escaping through a window with a child wasnât safe anyway.
That child was the eldest of her triplets. What kind of life had he been living with that man all these years?
Half an hour later, they arrived at a villa.
âEllinor! Weâre here!â
Belinda hopped out of the car and then opened the door for Ellinor.
Ellinor got out of the car while holding Adrian and looked around. The place was tranquil; it was actually quite nice.
âLetâs go. Iâll take you to meet my friend.â Belinda pointed to the villa.
Nodding, Ellinor followed her inside.
A housekeeper greeted them at the door and asked them to wait in the living room, explaining that Dr.
Callum was upstairs with a friend and would be down shortly.
Ellinor sat down in the living room, holding Adrian while surveying the decor.
The living room had a warm, homey feel. It felt more like a high-end residence than a clinic.
Soon, they heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
Ellinor looked up to see a man with an intellectual air descending the stairs.
Belinda stood up to greet him jokingly. âDr. Callum, what took you so long? I brought another friend to meet you.â
The man smiled warmly. âMs. Wesley, bringing me more clients. Iâm grateful.â
âGrateful, but you kept us waiting, huh?â
âI had a friend over. We had a couple of drinks.â
Belinda frowned, âWhat? Drinking this early? Can you even do your job?â
The man was calm and sober. âA little drink to relax, Donât worry, it wonât affect my work. Plus, Iâm usually off on weekends. I opened the clinic just for you.â
