âAdrian! Where are you? If you donât show yourself soon, Mom is going to show you what tough love is!â
A cold shiver ran down Adrianâs spine, and his hair stood on end.
He could tell by the tone of his motherâs voice that she was beyond furious.
A childâs instinct kicked in, and without thinking, Adrian retreated back into the bathroom stall, quickly closing and locking the door..
He was terrified.
His motherâs voice was undoubtedly filled with rage. If he were found at this point, heâd certainly get a spanking.
After watching his son retreat back into the stall as if heâd seen a ghost, Marcus furrowed his brows in confusion. Whatâs wrong with the boy now?
Then a womanâs voice came from outside the restroom.
âExcuse me, is anyone in there?â
Marcus turned his head towards the restroom entrance but saw no one.
Perhaps respecting privacy, the woman stood outside the door and did not peek in.
The womanâs voice seemed familiar to Marcus, but his sonâs odd behavior was more puzzling, so he didnât pay much attention to the womanâs voice.
Getting no response, the woman called out again. âIf thereâs anyone inside, please make a noise. If no one responds in ten seconds, Iâll assume itâs empty, and Iâll need to come in to find someone.â
Marcus, having amnesia and limited interaction with the outside world, had no reaction to things that didnât concern him. Even though he heard the woman, made no sound.
âWell, Iâm coming in.â The woman announced, and indeed, she stepped inside.
Upon entering the menâs restroom, Ellinor saw a man sitting in a wheelchair with his back facing the door, and not far in front of him was a urinal.
Instinctively, assuming the man was preparing to relieve himself, she quickly averted her gaze.
âIâm sorry! I called out from outside and no one responded, so I thought it was empty.
Donât worry, I wonât look. Iâm just here to find my son.â
Marcus crinkled his brows in distaste but didnât turn to look at the woman who had barged into the menâs restroom.
Ignoring the man, Ellinor went from stall to stall, knocking on the doors until she finally came across a locked one.
âExcuse me, is anyone in there?â
There was no response from inside the locked stall.
Having a hunch, Ellinor narrowed her eyes. âAdrian, are you in there?â
Still, no response.
Ellinor huffed and squatted down to peek under the stall door. As she suspected, she saw her sonâs shoes.
âAdrian! Come out now! Mommy can see your feet. Thereâs no use hiding! Open the door! If you donât, Iâm going to kick it down!â
After a moment of silence, the stall door finally opened, and a guilty-looking Adrian stared up at Ellinor.
he Having found her son, Ellinor breathed a sigh of relief, though anger still burned in her heart. âYou! Just yesterday, I lectured you about not running off, and here you are doing it again! Wait till we get home!
Letâs go!â
Since they were in the menâs restroom, Ellinor didnât want to linger. She picked up her son and turned to leave, consciously avoiding looking at the man at the urinal. Marcus, in the beginning, didnât pay much attention to the woman with the somewhat crude behavior until she opened the door to the stall.
And that stall was the one his son Tristan had initially gone into.
The woman did indeed carry a child out from there, and upon seeing clearly, he confirmed that the child was Tristan.
There was no time to wonder why his son had reappeared in the original stall.
