Belinda made her needs clear. âNah, I ainât going home; take me to Crescent Society.â
Upon hearing Crescent Society, Byran was all ears. âWhy on earth are you heading there this early?â
Recalling her last phone call with Jacob yesterday, Belinda felt a bit ticked off and wanted to clear the air with him.
âIâm off to meet someone; got some stuff to sort out.â
The driver started the car slowly. âSir, do you want me to drop you off at school first, or should I take Ms. Wesley to Crescent Society first?â
Crescent Society was closer than Byranâs school.
Without hesitation, Byran replied, âIâve got time; drop her off first.â
âSure thing, sir.â
The car headed towards Crescent Society.
Byran, arms crossed like a kid, guessed. âI bet youâre going to Crescent Society to see Chase, right?â
Hearing Chaseâs name made Belindaâs brow furrow unconsciously. âNo! Itâs none of your business;
stop guessing.â
Byran eyed her sideways. âAlright, youâre still playing coy; I saw it coming; youâve fallen for Chase, havenât you?â
Belinda glared at him. âIâm not playing coy. Iâm not going there to see Chase.â
Byran chuckled. âThen who are you going to see? I wonât make fun of you for liking Chase. Actually, Iâd be pretty pleased. If you and Chase get together, Iâd feel more at ease.â
Belinda was puzzled. âYouâd feel at ease?â
Byran blushed a little but kept his gaze on her. âBecause of my girlfriend, Ida. Sheâs been living with Chase, and itâs been bothering me. Chase is no good; he seems flippant. I hope you can distract him soon and keep him away from Ida.â.
Belinda made a face and said loudly, âI think youâre overthinking! Theyâre like family; theyâve been together since they were kids. Nothing like what youâre worrying about will happen. No matter how flippant Chase is, heâs principled. Heâs not as bad as you think.â
Byran stared at her wide-eyed. âOh! And you said you didnât like him? I just mentioned he seemed flippant, and youâre mad? Isnât that because you like him?â
Belinda was at a loss for words. âYouâ¦â
Byran had a smug look on his face. âDid I hit the nail on the head? Youâre mad, right? Typical!â
Belinda was so angry that she wanted to punch him. Just then, the car pulled up near Crescent Society, and she saw Ida at the entrance through the car window.
âByran, I think youâre the one getting ahead of yourself. You claim to be Ms. Gipsonâs boyfriend, but I bet she doesnât see you that way.â
Byran crossed his arms confidently. âWhat a joke! Me, get ahead of myself? Ida likes me; I like her;
what else could we be if not boyfriend and girlfriend?â
Belinda pointed towards the car window behind him with a frown. âMaybe you should take a look outside the car window before you speak.â
âLook at what?â Byran felt Belinda was messing with him, but he looked anyway. His handsome face froze, his pupils dilated, and his jaw clenched.
Outside the entrance of Crescent Society, Ida was standing with a man; their behavior suggested intimacy as they were chatting.
