The clerk asked, âWhat kind of leaflets do you need printed? Once we design a layout, it should take about thirty minutes.â
âI donât need complex designs; just get it done as fast as possible.â
âSure thing. Weâll do the simplest layout for you and try to finish in fifteen minutes.â
The evening rolled in.
After dinner, Ellinor took a stroll in the Howard familyâs garden, enjoying the evening breeze and admiring the moonlight.
Suddenly, she heard some grumbling from ahead.
âWhat a mess! I wonder which careless vendor scattered these leaflets everywhere.â
âExactly! Those who arenât interested in the leaflets just chuck them away, and the wind blows them into our garden.â
Two servants were sweeping the ground and complaining. They then heard footsteps approaching.
After turning around, they saw Ellinor.
They immediately showed respect to her. âMs. Mendoza, you might want to walk over there. Weâre sweeping, and weâre afraid the dust might bother you.â
Ellinor smiled. âAlright, you guys keep working hard.â
She didnât pay them much mind. She smiled at the two servants and walked by.
Once Ellinor left, the two servants started chitchatting again.
âUgh! Look at this leaflets. Why are they printing about Mr. Blanchetâs murder?â
âIsnât it clear? It says Mr. Blanchet died suddenly, and theyâre now asking for any leads. Whoever provides useful information will get a big reward.â
âI wonder who would dare harm Mr. Blanchet.â
âWhatâs it to us anyway? Our relationship with the Blanchet family isnât great, so itâs none of our business.â
As they talked and swept, they suddenly stopped at a pair of feet. They looked up and saw that Ellinor was back.
Ellinor looked at them seriously. âWho did you say was killed?â
The two were startled by Ellinorâs serious face. They were just the Howard familyâs gardeners, so they had no idea about Ellinorâs past relationship with Theo.
One of them quickly answered. âItâs Mr. Blanchet; he died in last nightâs explosion. His body was badly damaged, and now the Blanchet family is looking for clues. We read it on these leaflets.â
Ellinor looked down at the dusty leaflets, She bent down to pick one up, but her belly got in the way.
Seeing this, one of the gardeners quickly helped her pick one up and handed it to her.
Ellinor grabbed the leaflet. One side was an ad for a barbecue restaurant, and the other side was what the gardeners just mentioned.
Theo was killed in an explosion?
No way!
How could this be?
No way, that was Theo!
Ellinor looked shocked; her chest felt tight, and she had trouble breathing.
