Frowning Bryan retorted. âYes, you are! We have the same father; you are my sisterâ
After reaching the bottom of the stairs, Ellinor brushed off Bryanâs hand and headed towards the dining room.
ough she didnât dislike Bryan, she couldnât forget that he was the son of the woman who had hurt her mother. She couldnât sincerely treat him like a little brother. Bryan chuckled sarcastically. He followed her and was about to say something when he saw a tall figure emerging from the kitchen, holding a plate of food.
It wasnât their chef, nor their nanny, but Balfour.
Bryan was gobsmacked. âBalfour, you⦠youâre actually cooking?!â
Balfour ignored him and instead spoke gently to Ellinor. âEllinor, come. Sit down for breakfast.â
Without any formalities, Ellinor sat down.
Bryan, as though heâd seen a miracle, whipped out his phone and snapped several photos of Balfour in an apron.
After hearing the camera shutter, Balfour frowned and looked at Bryan sternly. âWhat are you doing?â
Bryan put away his phone and stood tall. âNothing! Iâve just never seen you this industrious before, so I took a photo to mark the occasion.â
Balfour gave the mischievous Bryan a helpless glance, placing the breakfast heâd prepared in front of Ellinor. âEllinor, eat up.â
It was a hearty breakfast of fried eggs, bacon, vegetables, and nuts.
After picking up her fork and knife, Ellinor glanced at the clock. âMr. Howard, arenât you going to work today?â
Hearing the formal address made Balfour seem slightly disappointed, but he replied gently. âThereâs nothing important going on lately; itâs no problem if I head to he office a bit later.â
Oh.â Ellinor replied offhandedly, not really caring.
it this point, Bryan leaned in, whispering in her ear. âHeâs doing all this for you. Heâs always punctual for work, no matter what. Heâs even cooking breakfast for you. ve never been treated like this. He never even did this when he used to pamper Patricia.â
Ilinor heard him, but she acted as if she hadnât and just focused on her meal.
ryanâs shoulder was smacked hard twice, and then he heard Balfourâs impatient voice. âGo eat your food and talk less!â
ryan obediently sat down at his spot. He looked down and saw two burned eggs and overcooked, charred bacon on his plate.
alfour, who seldom cooked, naturally couldnât control the heat well. So he gave the burned food to Bryan.
ryan pulled a face but didnât care. It didnât look great, but it wasnât burnt beyond eating, so he made do.
alfour also sat down, joining Bryan and Ellinor for breakfast. His plate consisted of only one egg and some veggies.
