Balfour asked, âIs Ellinor here? Iâm looking for her.â
Belinda looked a bit puzzled. âYouâre looking for Ellinor? Balfour, are you two close or something?
Whatâs up?â
Before Balfour could even reply. Ellinor showed up behind Belinda, calmly staring at him, âYou need something from me?â
Seeing Ellinor approaching, Belinda naturally stepped aside to make room for her.
Upon seeing Ellinor, who had been missing for hall a year, Ballourâs eyes tightened and then relaxed again, as a hint of emotion flashed in his eyes. âEllinor, where have you been these past six months?â
Ellinor frowned. âIt seems like everyoneâs been asking me that today, I donât have to report my whereabouts to you guys. Isnât it enough that I returned safely, no matter where Iâve been?â
The usually arrogant Balfour didnât get mad at Ellinorâs straightforward response. Instead, he nodded in satisfaction. âYeah, as long as youâre back and safe!*
Ellinor didnât bother to say more; she just turned around and went back to her room.
Balfour followed her in, spotted a few people by the dining table, and gave Ida and Chase a nod.
Meanwhile, he noticed that the spot next to Ida was empty, but there were signs of used cutlery on the table.
Balfour squinted his eyes; he didnât have to think twice to know whose spot that was.
Who else could it be but his good-for-nothing brother?
Upon hearing his brotherâs arrival, Byran hid under the table.
But Balfour wasnât there for him today; he didnât have time for him.
He walked straight towards the room Ellinor just entered, knocked on the door, and went in.
After closing the front door, Belinda returned to the dining table with a puzzled look on her face. âWhatâs going on? Why would Balfour look for Ellinor? Whatâs their deal?â
Ida and Chase exchanged glances, but neither of them answered her question.
They werenât in a place to talk about the bossâs life.
Chase pulled Belinda aside. âDonât worry about it; just sit down and continue eating.â
Belinda sat down with a confused look on her lace. Only then did she notice that someone was missing from the table.
âHuh? Whereâs Byran?â
Chase pointed under the table with a laugh.
Belinda was stunned for a moment, then quickly looked under the table.
Sure enough, Byran was hiding under the table.
Belinda couldnât help but laugh. âHahaha! Byran, youâre such a scaredy-cat! Itâs just your brother, not the big bad wolf!â
Even though Byran felt embarrassed, he didnât dare crawl out from under the table. He looked at Belinda with annoyance. âI wouldnât be scared if it was the big bad wolf. Keep your voice down; donât let my brother find me.â
Inside the room.
