Belinda grabbed a cucumber from the table and hurled it at him. âWhat do you mean weâre messing around? Watch your mouth!â
Byran ducked the flying cucumber âOkay! I misspoke. Are you and Chase together?â
Belindaâs face darkened even more. âNo!â
Byran furrowed his brows, he was genuinely confused. âThen why are you here helping with the cooking?â
Belinda scoffed. âMy aunt is here! Is there a problem with me taking care of her?â
A light bulb went off in Byranâs head. âOh, so youâre here for Ellinor! Speaking of, how are Ellinor and Theo? Why didnât she go back to the Blanchet Villa and instead came here?â
Mentioning Ellinor and Theo gave Belinda a headache.
âTheir meeting went south. Some conflict happened, and they went their separate ways, so Ellinor came here,â
Byran was also concemed about Ellinor. âDidnât Theo follow her? Heâs been searching for her everywhere; he should have come!â
Belinda shrugged helplessly. âI have no idea what happened, but Theo didnât come. Iâm here to watch over Ellinor for him.â
Byran thought for a moment and moved closer to Belinda, intending to ask more questions, but was abruptly pulled away by the neck by someone from behind.
Chase, with a smirk but a stern tone, said, âTalk all you want, but keep your distance! Donât you know the rules between men and women?â
This made Byran laugh uncontrollably. âYouâre lecturing me on keeping distance? Youâre the one whoâs always crossing the line!â
Once he said this, Belinda glanced at Chase and then turned her face away.
Chase shoved Byran away. âIf youâre not gonna help with the cooking, go watch TV in the living room.
Donât mess around here!â
Byran straightened his collar. âI see. Both of you are just jealous! Belinda, let me tell you, Chase isnât a faithful man; be careful!â
Chase shot a playful glare at Byran. âBelieve it or not, I can make Ida break up with you in a heartbeat.â
This deflated Byranâs arrogance somewhat, and he sauntered off to the living room to watch TV.
Belinda lowered her head and started cooking.
Chase moved to her side and whispered. âI know Iâve messed up before, but can you give me a chance to change?â
Belinda didnât look up at him. âMr. Larios, youâre barking up the wrong tree. You should find a girl whoâs willing to give you a chance, not someone whoâs already taken.â
Chase was silent for a while and didnât say anything more. He picked up the sauce-stained bowls from the table and went to wash them.
Belinda breathed a sigh of relief.
Good thing she had her principles; otherwise, she might not have been able to resist surrendering to Chase, especially after his convincing display today.
If she didnât have a boyfriend now, she might have fallen into the trap of love again.
But forget it! She had decided to cultivate her relationship with Jacob; she couldnât think about anything else! No dirty thoughts! She had to stay clear-headed.
Byran sat in the living room, munching on snacks and watching TV. With curiosity in his eyes, his gaze drifted unintentionally towards the kitchen.
If Theo knew that his beloved niece, Belinda, was involved with a playboy like Chase.
