Chase suddenly sat up. âWhatâs up?â
Ida was about to tell him that Ellinor had hopped into Theoâs car but got sidetracked by the swollen cheek he was sporting.
What happened to your face?â
Chase touched his burning cheek and began laughing at himself. âWhat else? Got slapped by a woman.â
Ida looked at him with a glimmer of disgust in her eyes. âServes you right!â
Chase shrugged. âAre you gonna tell me what happened or what?â
Ida got back on track. âBoss just bumped into Theo downstairs. He got her in his car, and now we donât know where theyâre off to. I canât reach her on the phone either.â
Chase looked puzzled. âWhy was Theo hanging around our office building?â
âHe was probably here to pick up Belinda, ran into Boss, and got her into his car, saying that they had some stuff to hash out.â
The mere mention of Belindaâs name made Chaseâs swollen cheek throb even more. Yup, his cheek had been slapped by Belinda. She packed quite a punch, even splitting his lip. Chase had just wiped off the blood.
He hadnât done anything. He simply asked her to give him another chance, but ended up getting smacked. It hurt like hell!
Ida, donât sweat it. Belindaâs in the car as well; Theo wonât do anything to her, especially since sheâs carrying his kid.â
Ida glared at him, clearly annoyed. âI know he wonât do anything to her right now, but do you think heâll be all smiles and sunshine? She is heavily pregnant; can she handle the stress? Hurry up and get in touch with Belinda. Go find her!â
Chase looked embarrassed. âWhy do I have to contact her? She just slapped me around. Do you think sheâll take my call? Ida, you call her!â
âIâve barely spoken to her; I donât know her; if I call her, she might not tell me whatâs up! What happened to your smooth moves with the ladies? Youâre totally useless when we really need it, huh?â
Chase sighed, looking helpless. âFine, Iâll call her! Get out; Iâll let you know when I have something.â
âStop dilly-dallying! Hurry up!â Ida urged him and then left, giving him space to handle the situation.
Chase picked up his phone with a gloomy look on his face.
It wasnât that he didnât want to call Belinda, but she had blocked all his contacts. He couldnât reach her now, even if he wanted to.
Never in his life had a woman cut him off so ruthlessly.
After being slapped, Chase decided to leave Belinda alone, but now, for Ellinorâs sake, he had to bother her again.
He thought for a moment, then picked up the landline on his desk, asking the manager for Belindaâs boyfriend, Jacobâs contact.
Unable to reach Belinda, he had no choice but to seek help from her boyfriend.
Chase dialed Jacobâs number on his phone.
The phone rang for a while before being answered, and Jacob politely asked, âHello, whoâs speaking?â
Chase replied. âJacob, itâs me.â
Jacob was just an ordinary employee; he obviously didnât have the bossâs private phone number, but he quickly realized it was Chase and immediately sounded a bit nervous. âMr. Larios, why⦠why would you suddenly contact me? Is there anything I can do for you?â
