Belinda subtly nudged Theo with her elbow. âMy auntie actually enjoys her peace and quiet! Sheâs a lone wolf!â
What she meant was that she hoped her uncle would understand Ellinor. Since they havenât seen each other in a long time, they should sit down and have a good chat.
Theo stifled a laugh. âDidnât she already tell you to call her by her name? Why are you calling her Auntie again?â
Belinda suddenly remembered that, but she couldnât change her habit immediately.
Plus, she had no plans to change her way of addressing her anytime soon.
What did her uncle mean? Was he really planning to break up with Ellinor?
Theoâs words felt like a jab to Ellinor, as if he were implying that she was pretending to be aloof.
She was used to Belinda calling her that, but because she was distracted, she didnât react immediately.
Belinda wanted to lighten the mood, but it only made things more awkward. She decided to zip it.
Idaâs office at Crescent Society.
Ida had just arranged for some snacks for Byran to munch on while she dealt with her work.
But when her assistant informed her that Ellinor had gotten into Theoâs car below the building, Ida shot up. âWhat? Where is Theo taking her?â
The assistant shrugged. âThey said they needed closure. Even Ellinor doesnât know where theyâre headed.â
Ida was annoyed. âYou let her get into the car without knowing the destination? Why didnât you go with her?â
The assistant muttered. âThe car was full with Belinda, Theoâs former assistant, and Jacob from our firm. Plus, Ellinor didnât want me to come.â
Frustrated, Ida picked up her phone to call Ellinor.
Byran, who was lounging on the couch with a cola, saw Idaâs anxiety and reassured her. âIda, why so tense? Ellinor got into Theoâs car, not some crookâs!â
Ida shot him a glare. âWhatâs the difference between Theo and a crook?â
Byran disagreed. âI canât speak for Theoâs behavior towards others, but heâs always been good to Ellinor. Donât worry, he wonât hurt her.â
Ida scoffed. âYou think he hasnât hurt her?â
Byran looked confused. âTheo hurt her? From what I see, Ellinor has always been the one hurting Theo. She left him twice, which is more than anyone could take.â
Ida was very irritated. âIf you have nothing else to do, go back to school. Stop hovering around me!â
Idaâs response made Byran immediately become submissive. âIda, donât be mad at me. Iâve got nothing to do with this.â
âThen just sit here quietly and donât cause more trouble!â

She called Ellinor, but no one answered. She was very worried, so she went to Chase to discuss a solution.
As she opened the door to Chaseâs office, she saw him slumped over his desk in despair. If one didnât know better, they would think he was drunk in broad daylight.
Ida walked up and gently knocked on the table. âWake up! Weâve got a problem!â
