Kemp didnât push any further.
Jonah flopped back down and began rambling a bit. âI mean, if you canât find her, just drop it, dude. Itâs just some missing woman. Whatever type of woman you want, we can hook you up with.â
Theo frowned, ignoring him.
Kemp shot Jonah a glare. âShut it!â
Jonah couldnât care less, and he shrugged innocently. âWhatâs wrong? Ainât I just speaking the truth?
This ainât the first time that womanâs run off on us! Sheâs given Theo the slip twice, so why does he still care about her? If I were you, I wouldâve moved on ages ago!â
Theoâs face turned sour.
Kemp reached out his long leg and gave Jonah a kick. âGo downstairs and find a woman; stop pestering us!â
âOuch!â Jonah yelped in pain, but his mouth didnât stop running.
But his antics lightened up the mood.
Sophia, cradling her glass, sat on the single-seat sofa, laughing at Jonahâs goofy antics. âMr. Wyton, why are you always such a riot? Youâre so cute! You must have a lot of girls falling for you, right?â
Jonah shrugged with feigned helplessness. âNot really! When Iâm flying solo, I do alright. But when Iâm with Theo, Kemp, Balfour, Bartlett, and those other studs, hardly any girls notice me. Ah, itâs all about comparisons, man!â
Sophia laughed again. âThatâs not true! You guys each have your own charm. But they all seem a bit cold, while youâre different. Youâre friendly, so girls, would feel more comfortable approaching you.â

Jonah beamed at the compliment. âReally? Would you feel comfortable approaching me?â
Sophia laughed heartily. âYouâre so fun; of course I would!â
Jonah promptly perched on the arm of Sophiaâs sofa, leaning in close. âThen would you consider being with me? Iâve been single for quite a while now!â
Sophia hesitated, then pushed Jonah off with a laugh. âWeâre just friends; stop joking around!â
Jonah leaned in again. âIâm not joking! Iâm serious. Why donât we give dating a shot?â
Sophia looked annoyed. âMr. Wyton, I donât wanna date my friends! Cut it out!â
Jonah raised an eyebrow, shrugging. âSee! What did I tell you? No girls are willing to get close to me.
Even you donât fancy me.â
Sophia explained. âDonât take it the wrong way; itâs not that I donât fancy you. Itâs just that thereâs someone else in my heart. My feelings for him run deep. I -canât develop feelings for another man! Mr.
Wyton, youâre actually quite charming!â
Jonah got curious again. âWho is it? Spill the beans. Letâs help you think it over.â
Sophia glanced over at Theo, who was engrossed in his drink. Her eyes trembled slightly. âI canât tell you; itâs my little secret.â
Jonah chuckled lightly. âEven if you donât tell me, I can guess. The one youâre thinking about, if itâs not Theo, itâs Kemp, right?â
After a few seconds of silence, Sophia waved her hand. âThatâs enough, Jonah. Donât speculate about my feelings.â
Jonah crossed his arms, grumbling in dissatisfaction. âAh! I knew I was right. As long as those two are here, no woman pays attention to me. Iâm just a sad, lonely dude.â
