Veronica gave a helpless shrug. Iâm not quite sure, but I reckon she might have taken off on her own.â
âTaken off? Why would she do that? Havenât we, the Blanchet family, treated her well?â
1 guess it might be the fact that sheâs been living under a lot of restrictions lately. Sheâs got bodyguards hovering around her all the time; she canât even leave the house. Sheâs probably pissed off.â
Putnam frowned, âSo sheâs pissed off and she just bails? That makes no sense! I donât think we should go looking for her. Let her come home on her own!â
After hearing Putnam talk like this, Marissa straightened up in alarm. âWhat the hell are you saying?!
Do you even realize that she might not give a damn about us? If we donât hurry and find her, she might never come back!â
Putnam looked worried but held his ground. âWell, if she doesnât want to come back, then she doesnât have to!â
Marissa was anxious; she sighed, and tears started to flow. âSheâs carrying a child; we canât let her get hurt out there!â
Putnam looked at his wife and motioned, âAlright, let Marissa go back to her room to rest. Weâll send more people out to look for her.â
âAlright, sir.â
Under Putnamâs orders, Marissa was escorted back to her room to rest.
Baber was still crying. No matter how much they tried, they just couldnât soothe him.
Veronica didnât want the kid to disturb Grandpa, so she sent the maid to take Baber back to his room.
This made the downstairs area quiet again.
Putnam was looking out of the window with a worried expression; he was really worried about her.
âGrandpa, should we call the cops? If we get the police involved, we might find her faster.â Veronica walked up to her grandpa and suggested.
Putnam glanced at his granddaughter, âSheâs just gone missing; itâs too early to call the police.â
Veronica looked a bit disappointed. âWhat should we do then? My brother is abroad, and he already knows sheâs missing. He must be really worried!â
more?â Putnam raised an eyebrow in surprise, âWhat? Your brother already knows? Who told him?
Isnât this just going to make him worry Veronica shook her head innocently. âI didnât tell him! It was the bodyguards who informed him first.
They all work for Theo, so theyâd definitely report it right away.â
Putnam furrowed his brows and rubbed his forehead. âAlright, go check Theoâs room for any clues.â
âOkay, Iâll go look now.â Veronica nodded and quickly went upstairs.
Theo and Ellinorâs room was open, and Veronica had no trouble going in.
She started searching the room for clues until she heard a cell phone ring.
She found a phone. It was Ellinorâs. She didnât take her phone with her?
The incoming call was from Theo.
Without thinking, Veronica picked up the call. On the other side of the line, Theoâs rare anxious and nervous voice came through, âWhere the hell are you?â
âBro, itâs meâ¦â
Theo paused for a second and then asked, âDid you find her?â
Veronica answered with regret.
âNot yet⦠Bro, donât get too anxious.â
