A Up until the last moment, Ellinor was still hoping that guy would spit out the truth.
But then, seeing his cocky attitude, Ellinor felt bored to death. She thought, âSeriously, how boring can this get?â
With a blank face, she looked at Theo, a face that once made her heart race, and said calmly, âStanding here, youâre just bothering me. Because I donât want to see you right now!â
Theoâs eyes turned colder, asking. âYou donât want to see me? Ellinor, do I really piss you off that much?â
âDamn right, you piss me off!â Ellinor smirked sarcastically, her eyes filled with mockery, âMr. Blanchet, I admit, I kissed you on purpose to dodge a blind date. My bad. But Iâve paid my dues. I owe you nothing now! And you-do you find it amusing to chase a woman who couldnât care less about you? Well, Iâm done playing!â
Theoâs brows furrowed, his gaze sharp, and he asked her, âPlaying? You think Iâve been playing with you all this time, is that it?â
Ellinor laughed and said, âSpeak up, isnât it true? You seem to enjoy this whole charade! Enough is enough. Itâs time to call it quits!â
She pushed him away and bolted, not wanting to give him a second glance!
Theo grabbed her again, yanking her back, then let go abruptly, âYouâre not going anywhere! If you donât want to see me, then Iâll leave!â
With those words, he lowered his head and walked out of the room with firm steps.
The door slammed shut. The noise was deafening.
The sudden commotion startled Ellinor, leaving her with nothing but emptiness in her eyes.
The room was warm, but she felt cold.
Woken up by the racket, Marissa Blanchet knocked on the door, âEllinor? Are you in there?â
Even though she was disappointed in Theo, she wouldnât lash out at an innocent person. So, she masked her true feelings, opened the door, and managed to smile, âMarissa, why arenât you asleep yet?â
Seeing her pale and worn-out face, Marissa felt a pang of sorrow, âEllinor, I heard you and Theo arguing. What happened? Did that rascal upset you? Tell me, Iâll give him a good talking to!â
Ellinor shook her head, âItâs okay, he and I just had a little spat. Sorry for disturbing your peace. Donât worry about me. Iâm fine!â
She could tell Marissa really cared about her, even wanting to scold her own grandson for her.
But Theoâs problem wasnât something that could be solved with a few words.
Marissa took Ellinorâs hand with concern, âEllinor, I know my grandson can be stubborn and too straightforward. It must be tough dealing with him. He tends to forget everything when heâs busy and might neglect your feelings. Iâll talk to him when I get a chance. How dare he treat you like this, especially when youâre pregnant? Heâs really regressing as he grows up!â
Ellinor forced a smile, âMarissa, thank you for understanding. Donât worry about us; you should get some rest.â
Marissa patted Ellinorâs hand, âAlright, Iâll go back to my room then. You should also get some rest.
Donât let Theo upset you. Itâs not good for your health and not worth it! Iâll talk to him first thing in the morning.â
Ellinor nodded, watching Marissa go back to her room. She was about to close the door for some peace when Veronica and Baber appeared from around the corner.
âEllinor, wait, donât close the door!â
Ellinor paused, looking at Veronica with indifference.
Leading Baber, Veronica approached and frowned, âI heard everything. You just lied to Grandma. The problem between you and my brother is far from a trivial spat. Itâs like youâre on the brink of divorce!â
