Belinda snapped out of her thoughts, âHuh? Ellinor, whatâs up?â
Ellinor replied, âIâm fine, no problems here, no need to keep watching over me and wasting your time.
You can go about your business. Just drop by when youâre free.â
Belinda shook her head firmly, âNo can do. Iâve already promised Theo that I would take good care of you here. I canât go back on my word.â
Ellinor shook her head, âIâll explain to Theo. Thereâs no need to do everything he says. He only thinks his work is important; itâs affecting your work by having you come and look after me. You donât have to follow his plans to a T.â
Belinda didnât seem troubled, âEllinor, my work isnât being affected; Iâve taken leave. Mr. Larios approved it and has already arranged for someone else to cover my work.â
Upon hearing this, Ellinor glanced at Chase. Chase had just said he had no idea Belinda was here, yet he approved her leave. How could he possibly not know the reason for her leave? He was talking out of his ass!
Ellinor sighed.
Belinda being here and watching Chaseâs performance was undoubtedly a slap in her faceâ¦
âIâve already arranged Belindaâs work since she wants to take care of you here. Donât reject her kindness!â Chase had overheard their conversation and chimed in, grinning from ear to ear.
If his girlfriend werenât present, Ellinor would want to slap Chase!
Seeing no one acknowledging him, Chase turned to Belinda with a smile, âBelinda, youâre on leave now. I shouldnât be adding to your troubles! But Iâm in a bit of a pickle. Could you help me out if youâre free?â
Belinda blushed at Chase speaking to her. She nodded, âMr. Larios, whatever it is, just say it. Iâll help if I can.â
Chase smiled, âI knew you were the best! Could you book a room for me in a nearby hotel? My girlfriend usually sleeps in, but she woke up early today to visit the boss at the hospital. Sheâs a bit tired now. I want to take her to rest for a while.â
He was taking his girlfriend for a rest and wanted her to book the room.
Anyone would feel uncomfortable with that. Belinda, though thirsty for love, was not without reason.
She frowned, âMr. Larios, if you want to take your girlfriend to a hotel to rest, why donât you book it yourself online? Itâs very convenient on the phoneâ¦â
Veronica, standing nearby, also thought Chaseâs request was out of line and chimed in, âExactly!â
Chase laughed somewhat helplessly, âYes, I know itâs convenient to book online, but my phone is out of battery. I think itâs not quite right for a man to let his girlfriend pay to book a room. Plus, sheâs shy. Sheâs embarrassed to book.â
Belinda was at a loss for words.
Veronica rolled her eyes in exasperation, âThen you two go ârestâ in the car! You even need someone else to book a hotel for you. Your girlfriend doesnât seem so shy! What good girl goes to a hotel with her boyfriend in the middle of the day? What a fake innocent!â
At Veronicaâs mocking, the girl in Chaseâs arms buried her face into his chest, looking like she was about to cry.
Chase held the girl and gently patted her back, comforting her tenderly, âItâs okay, donât listen to her nonsense! Iâm just planning to take you to a hotel to rest. No one can talk nonsense, okay?â
The girl nodded in his arms, looking wronged.
