Around the afternoon, Me, Helen and the rest of the squad were at a special lesson, not specifically a lesson as much as a showcase. After going through punishments and rough reinforcement training, Harold along with another beginner I didnât recognise were showing their jade blooded magic they have learned to use. With the permission from the priest running the performance and making sure no one is harmed, they each took distance from each other and were allowed to take out obsidian knives, each carefully slicing their palm in a way no central vein is harmed, both bleeding the glowing, holy jade blood.
âBy the power of Zond I wish to shield myself!â The beginner said and by holding her right palm to a fist and pulling her arm back a shield made of green blood was made. It looked like a splatter of paint on an invisible canvas that was green and slowly turned into red.
âBy the power of Zond I wish to strike her!â Harold said, moving his right hand back near his left pocket, and then waving it towards her like there was sand in his fist. The green blood flew and my heart rose as it turned from drops to violent shooting needles, the sound loud and sudden, like that of a screech as it stuck on the shield the other beginner had created.
We all proceeded to clap at the presentation. âWow, I never really seen anything like it!â One of the girls in my squad(that I forgot her name) said.
âI haveâ I said, in a very smug expression. âThough⦠I admit the striking move seems a lot more lethal here.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
âYeah, thatâs because when I did it.. Which I am sorry about by the way, I still didnât know how to do the move right⦠and now I can actually strike in a way that's worth a damnâ Harold said while his eyes were still very much focused on his opponent, the academy takes safety very seriously.
âBy the power of Zond I wish to shield myself!â Now Harold began the order of spells and the same splatter, similar in concept but different in its splattering shape appeared.
âBy the power of Zond I wish to strike her!â She said, her strike seemed less precise and the needles of her splatter seemed more fragile.
âAlright! that's the end of the showcase, both of you will now heal yourself.â
âYes Priest!â They both announced and pressed their hands into fists, chanting almost at the same time âBy the power of Zond I wish to heal myself!â They then put their arms forward to us and showed how the cuts in their palms disappeared like wet stains under the sun.
They both finished the showcase and the squad got talking. âIsnât it so weird?â Cal asked. âI thought Jade blood will have more spells than just three basic ones.â
âI heard from a priest in my village,â I replied. âThat it's to represent Slang, Berg and Onderwereld.â
âActuallyâ¦â Helen started her knowledge rant, but before any bully even tried to silence her âOh nevermind, you're actually right.â
âHm, how strange, you usually never get a fact wrong.â
âShe's probably just hiding somethingâ Dark, out of nowhere chimed in. âAnd that's a good thing smart people do.â I wanted to say something back to him, like how he was wrong or whatever but I admittedly got trapped in his eyes.
âUhuh⦠yeah man⦠whatever. anyways most of us can't even use spells until like a month in so whatever.â I said, clearly Dark was annoyed with the way his face curled.
âOh, but⦠but you get your powers today.â Helen said.
âOh shit⦠wait where's the sun at??â It was almost sunset, the time I was supposed to meet the Chief Priest. âShit i gotta runâ
