“Are you insane?” Steve son of Alexander, asked.

“About what?” I said between bites on a taco, sitting together with Helen at lunchtime.

“About Dark! his father is really rich and he has ties to a lot of powerful heads in the city.”

“So?”

“So if Dark wanted, which he'll definitely want now he'll make your life into a living hell!”

“Nonsense, he was clearly in the wrong, plus, maybe his father will think I'm pretty cool, I need that if I want in the future to”

“Val, ..you're sidetracking again…” Helen paused her reading of one of her favourite scrolls solely to dunk on me, at this point she was very familiar about my interactions with and thoughts about the two boys I liked, and it seems I may have overshared too much because she was starting to get critical.

“You sound a little mopey lately, is everything all right?” I asked, lately she seemed to be a bit more sour, nor really angry but just weirdly inside herself?

“What are you guys talking about?” The perfect childhood friend Damian stepped in, his eyes gazing at me with his beautiful golden eyes and smug smile.

“A-Ah just about the thing I did”

“Oh, I heard of it, it's spreading like wildfire” He said and took a seat right In front of me, my heart pumped faster. “The girl who stepped up to Dark, that's how they said it.” He said and he looked deeper into my eyes, I couldn't meet his gaze back, at least for the millisecond I raised my eyes to look towards him again. “But if you ask me Val, what you did was not stepping up” oh wow, okay, well fuck you too “What you did, was justice!” oh okay, that's nice, I can get behind that. “You did the world a favour by humiliating that fool”

“Yes” I happily replied, though I was a little sad thinking about humiliating the guy, don't know why.

“Good” He said and then slammed his palm on the table. “If something like that ever happens again, make sure to try to bring me as fast as possible and I'll crush that idiot”

“Of course, I will, in the name of Zond” I promised nonchalantly, at least trying to, my hand shook like crazy. The rest of lunch was pretty uneventful though I couldn't have shaked off that something wasn't right with Helen.
