âD-Did you just say that Ms. Bonita is waiting for me?!â Toby stuttered again. This time, it was even worse than the last.
Terry thought to himself, âI canât blame him, though. After all, this is Ms. Bonita weâre talking about here! He mustâve been overjoyed!â
Toby felt a spring in his steps as he walked. He even felt a little light-headed. He still had not come back to his senses.
He followed Terryâs lead and arrived at Bonnieâs research lab. She was going through some documents and comparing reactions from different test tubes.
Worried that he might disturb her, Terry spoke softly. âThe new guyâs here, Ms. Bonita.â
âAlright. Got it.â Putting down the document, she turned around and walked over to them.
âI-Itâs you!â
Tobyâs composure was gone as he gaped at her.
âThis is unbelievable! The great Bonita is a student at Pyralis University. If her identity went public, everyone at the university would be shocked, too.â
She looked at him with a smile. âDo you understand why I answered you the way I did that day?â
âIâm sorry!â He said, âI shouldnât have talked to you that way.â
She waved her hands. âI donât blame you for that. You only talked to me in that manner because you didnât know any better. Donât worry about it.â
Her understanding and thoughtfulness gave him the impression that she was different. It made him respect her all the more for it.
âFrom here on out, youâll work as my assistant.â
Terry was so jealous of the young man when he heard it. He held and squeezed Tobyâs shoulder.
âGood for you, young man! Youâve got some incredible luck! Your ancestors must be so proud of you now. I would swap bodies with you in a heartbeat if I could!â
âJudging by how hard the professor is squeezing my shoulder, I donât think heâs just saying that to make me feel better. Heâs sincerely jealous of me!
âWell, I do realize how big this opportunity is. I was just a slightly talented student before today. Now, Iâm the science prodigyâs assistant. This is such an honorable chance!â
The next day, Toby was surrounded by a group of fellow university students.
âDid you see Ms. Bonita, Toby? What does she look like? Is she hot?â
âIs that the biggest question you have? Come on. Ms. Bonita isnât a celebrity. What does that matter?â
âThatâs right. Ms. Bonita is talented and capable. She doesnât have to rely on her good looks to do her job.â
Toby couldn't help but think to himself, âWell, fellows. Bonita could rely on her good looks if she wanted to.â
âHurry up and say something. Did you see Ms. Bonita? What was she like? How old is she?â One of the female students asked.
Then Bonnie spoke up behind her. âYouâre in my way, pal. Please let me through.â
