Chapter 722:
For a moment, Rhysâ hand faltered on the wheel.
His dark eyes glinted with amused indulgence. So, Harlee had been dealing with a few unruly individuals in the physics lab. Those must have dared to look down on Harlee, poking the bear and finally reaping what they had sown.
âSounds like you had fun in the physics lab,â Rhys commented.
Harlee polished off the last bite of her hot dog, savoring it with a satisfied lick of her lips. With an offhand shrug, she said, âIt was fine. There was this student, Jodi, who was pretty interesting.â
Despite the department headâs doubts about Harleeâs abilities, Jodi had remained steadfast in preparing questions, even going so far as to add Kieranâs question to make up a full set of ten. Not many people had that kind of pure passion for physics.
Suddenly, Rhysâ phone rang.
He pressed the answer button and switched it to speakerphone.
âMr. Green, itâs Patrick.
Bart and the guardians from Uwhor, along with a few from Claelia, are back. Weâre gathering at Tartarus Club. Want to join us later?â
Rhys had a unique bond with them. When they were on a mission, Rhys was the leader.
His orders were absolute, and everyone followed them without question.
But when there were no missions, they were simply friends, free to relax and hang out together. This was why Patrick felt comfortable calling. Moreover, the guardians and the people from Claelia were old friends Rhys had grown up with, which prompted Patrickâs invitation.
Still, knowing Rhys was with Harlee, Patrick hesitated, realizing if he interrupted Rhysâ time with Harlee, he would be punished for handling business in remote areas.

Rhys didnât answer immediately.
He glanced over at Harlee in the passenger seat and asked her, âDo you want to meet them?â
Harlee wasnât particularly eager to meet new people, especially since she had already heard all about Bart and the guardians from Uwhor through Tonya. There was no need for a face-to-face meeting. Therefore, she shook her head.
Rhys smiled and immediately said to the phone, âYou guys have fun without meâ¦â
Harlee widened her eyes.
âWhat? You wonât go if I donât?â
Rhysâ tone softened, his voice affectionate.
âItâs rare to get time with you. Of course, I would rather stay with you.â
Harlee pointed at the phone.
âThe call isnât over yet.â
Rhysâ grin widened.
âYou donât have to worry. Patrickâs used to it.â
Patrick was at a loss for words. Judging from his tone, Harlee could tell this gathering wasnât something that happened often, so she reconsidered.
âAlright, letâs go. Itâs been a while since I last visited Tartarus Club.â
Just then, a womanâs voice chimed in from the phone, âRhys is coming too? Itâs been ages since I last saw him. Letâs have a drink tonight!â
