Chapter 615:
âWeâve been so misguided, failing to recognize the genuine from the deceitful.
Harlee has always been such a devoted daughter, and now, weâve pushed her awayâ¦â If only he had realized sooner, perhaps their paths would not have veered so tragically apartâ¦
âLiam, youâre correct. We were foolish before. If Harlee ever decides to acknowledge us as her family in the future, weâll treat her far better than we ever did.â After a moment of silence, Laura added with a trace of regret, âBut if Harlee still holds a grudge, weâll quietly withdraw from her life.â
Liamâs expression flickered before he sighed and said, âI want to make amends, but itâs clear she doesnât want anything to do with us.â
Outside of her obsession with a male heir, Laura had a sharp mind. She patted her sonâs shoulder and remarked, âThe Sandersons offer Harlee a life we canât possibly match. What could we give her that she doesnât already have?â
Liam recognized the truth of her words, yet he couldnât bring himself to accept it.
He still clung to hope.
âMom, do you think sheâd forgive me if I apologized from the heart?â
Liamâs persistence began to ignite a spark of greed in Lauraâs mind.
After all, letting go of such an advantageous connection wasnât something she wanted to do.
âMaybe we should visit her again sometime?â Laura suggested cautiously, positioning herself as morally justified.
âWeâve been family for nearly two decades.

Even without blood ties, that bond is still significant, isnât it? Besides, we truly want to make things right. If sheâs willing, weâd give her everythingâlove, money, you name it. The entire Gill family would work to make it up to her.
And when weâre gone, everything we have will be hers!â
Liamâs mind drifted back to the chance encounter heâd had with Harlee not long ago.
Her reaction made it painfully clear she wanted no further connection with the Gills.
Even so, he couldnât help but dream. Maybe he hadnât been the father she needed.
If he could show her genuine care now, perhaps sheâd soften. Pursing his lips, Liam thought of the Harlee who once craved a fatherâs love. Perhaps he could win her over again if he treated her the way a parent shouldâ¦
âMom, youâre right. If we show her kindness, sheâll come around!â Liam said with conviction.
Still, Liam was cautious, letting his mother test the waters first as he was wary of Rhysâ potential backlash.
A single misstep could ruin not just him but the entire Gill Group.
Harleeâs good mood evaporated after her encounter with Liam.
Following a simple dinner with Rhys, she returned to Remson Manor to relax.
At the same time, Laura and Liam were taken to an interrogation room for questioning.
Although Harlee, as the chief interrogator, wasnât physically present, she didnât miss a thing. She observed everything remotely from the master bedroom.
This first session wasnât meant to yield anything significant.
Harlee simply instructed her team to ask standard questions before releasing Laura and Liam to await further action.
Once the interrogation was handled, Harlee shut her laptop and stepped into the garden, searching for Rhys. She spotted him in the glass pavilion, seemingly in a video conference with a laptop on the table. Slowly, she approached, waiting until the meeting ended before moving closer.
