Chapter 473:
Lindsay reached for her phone on the nightstand and called Lillie with fierce determination. She unleashed a torrent of anger, and before hanging up, she said with a cold threat, âIf you dare betray me again, Angela will meet a miserable end, do you understand?â
Lillie, still reeling from her call to her former lover, was shaken by Lindsayâs fury. She nodded to herself, stuttering, âI get itâ¦â
Lillieâs earlier anger and fear had made her rashly confront Belen. Now, calmer, she regretted her impulsiveness. Relieved that Lindsay had only vented and not acted against Angela, Lillie finally exhaled in relief.
After all, Angela was still counting on Lindsayâs help to secure her future with the Brooks family.
Elsewhere, Harlee sat in the passenger seat of Brentonâs car, absorbing his lectures.
Ever since she had bid Rhys goodbye, Brenton had been filling the drive with cautions: âDonât trust men too easily,â
âIgnore their sweet talk,â and âAlways be cautious around Rhys.â
Despite the overload of advice, Harlee found comfort in it. It was the kind of genuine care sheâd craved in her earlier years.
Brentonâs brows furrowed slightly. With a gentle smile, he glanced at Harlee.
âYouâ¦â
Laughing softly, he pulled into the driveway, parked the car, and turned off the engine. With a stern face but kind eyes, Brenton turned to Harlee and said, âItâs important you understand that the whole family, myself included, truly desires the best for you.â

Harlee unbuckled her seatbelt, faced him, and responded sincerely, âI appreciate that, and I will heed your advice.â
Brenton watched her for a moment, his lips eventually curving into a gentle smile.
âAlright, since youâre fond of that man from the Green family, Iâll give him a chance to demonstrate his love and his ability to care for you.
Howeverâ¦â
As Brenton opened the car door, he added cautiously, âMy approval doesnât automatically mean the rest of our family will agree.â
Brenton quietly scoffed to himself.
Did Rhys truly think he could easily marry Harlee, the one the whole family doted on? He would have to face many trials first.
Harlee felt confident in Rhys, certain that he would eventually win the familyâs acceptance.
âThanks, Brenton.â Gratitude shone in her eyes, but her focus soon shifted.
Thinking about the upcoming day, Harlee quickly followed Brenton out of the car.
In a gentle voice, she said, âBrenton, I plan to visit the Morgan family with Rhys tomorrowâ¦â
Before she could elaborate, Brenton presented his text exchange with Rhys. The conversation outlined their plans and Rhysâ thoughtful intentions.
âHe really does think things throughâ¦â Brenton commented.
Brenton felt his initial resistance to Rhys begin to ease.
