Chapter 420:
âYou rascal, remember the Sanderson family still holds a grudge against you. Now that Harlee has accepted you, you need to try harder to get on her familyâs good side, got it?â With a heavy sigh, Nathaniel added, âIf you canât handle it, itâs fine.
Even if it means humbling myself to apologize, Iâll do it for you!â
Rhys paused and then raised an eyebrow.
âYou donât trust I can manage the situation?â
Nathaniel took immense pride in Rhys, so of course, he trusted Rhysâ capabilities. Yet, he maintained a stern expression and said, âDonât get too confident. If youâre capable, let me give away the gift Iâve prepared for my granddaughter-in-law for ten years this year!â
Rhys, having just received a photo of Nathaniel smiling from a nurse, couldnât help but laugh.
âDonât worry. Iâll make sure you get to deliver that gift this year.â
After bidding goodnight, Rhys ended the call. Nathaniel was left speechless. This year? With only two months remaining, did that mean he might soon meet his future granddaughter-in-law? If things progressed rapidly, could he even hold a great-grandchild by next year?
With that hopeful thought, Nathanielâs smile broadened.
âA great-grandchild.
Ha-ha, Iâm going to be a great-grandfatherâ¦â
Meanwhile, at a secluded estate on Uwhorâs eastern border, Matteo stood before an aquarium, dressed in a gray suit.
He sprinkled fish food into the tank and watched as the exotic fish scrambled for it, a knowing smile spreading across his carved face.
After casually tossing the remainder of the food into the water, Matteo settled onto a couch, his eyes narrowing, a flicker of threat lurking in his dark stare.
Around ten minutes later, an elderly man with a scarred face walked in from outside. This man, Clayton Loftus, was the top assassin in Uwhor, famous for his unmatched combat skills.
He had been Matteoâs loyal bodyguard for years.
Matteo raised his head slowly, his look sinister.
âHave you discovered everything? Is there anything left hidden about Harlee?â
With a somber face, Clayton responded humbly, âSir, Harlee is too clever. The people I sent couldnât uncover any of her secrets.â
A wicked grin crept across Matteoâs lips as his fingers tapped rhythmically on the leather sofa, resolved to eliminate Harlee. Over the years, Matteo had sent countless people to train Hale, but Haleâs obsession with Harlee, even daring to manipulate Matteo, remained unshaken. Matteo figured if he didnât act against Harlee swiftly, his own safety could be compromised.
âGet everything ready. Since her secrets remain uncovered, weâll proceed with her elimination!â Matteo instructed.
Clayton gave a nod and then asked, âShould we inform your brother of our plans? The people he sent havenât shown any flaws yet.â
At this, Matteo scoffed.
Did his naive half-brother really think that placing a few spies or breaching his private networks would enable him to oversee everything? Such foolish dreams!
âLeave Hale out of this,â Matteo dismissed.
âHe needs to realize that itâs only by my grace that he has his current standing. Without my favor, heâs nothing!â Matteo commanded.
