Chapter 399:
How about one hundred million?â
âDeal!â Tonya agreed, amusement flickering in her eyes.
At Harleeâs words, Rhysâ gaze intensified, a smile spreading across his face.
Even though the Green Group had recently lost billions, he still had hundreds of billions stored in his overseas accounts. Rhysâ eyes narrowed with focus as he pulled out his gun and unleashed a flurry of shots, destroying the swarm of frogs within moments.
Meanwhile, Harlee and Tonya began their little competition, with hit rates hovering around seventy to eighty percent, making it hard to determine a winner.
Suddenly, a mutated arrow-poison frog sprang out of the grass. It was four times the size of the ordinary ones, moving five times faster. Tonya let off ten rapid shots, but none met their mark.
As the mutated arrow-poison frog moved closer, preparing to attack Tonya with its tongue, Harlee quickly pulled Tonya behind her and fired at the frogâs foot. The air filled with the grating sound of the frogâs croak, reminiscent of a saw cutting through wood.
Tonya, irritated, picked at her ears and muttered, âSo annoying. What a nasty little creature!â
Tonya realized Harlee was right. These frogs were indeed nasty creatures.
As the mutated frog began to discharge venom, a thick, dark green fluid oozed from its mouth, nose, and eyes.
âLook out! Itâs spurting venom.â Harleeâs expression darkened, and her voice lowered.
âBe careful not to get splashed with its venom!â
Harlee quickly put a pill into Tonyaâs and Rhysâ mouths.
âTake this antidote now.â

Rhys compressed his lips, giving a slight nod as he swallowed the pill, his eyes twinkling with a trace of amusement. When he raised his head to face the frogs, his gaze carried a glint of lethal determination.
Thirty minutes later, the ground was scattered with the bodies of most of the arrow-poison frogs, leaving only the mutated one still alive.
Harlee focused on the mutant frog, lining up her shot for its heart, when suddenly, a smaller arrow-poison frog leaped up from the ground.
At that instant, Rhys and Tonya were reloading, unable to react to the new threat. Rhys acted on instinct.
He rushed to Harleeâs side and kicked the smaller arrow-poison frog into the air, where Tonya promptly shot it down in a smooth teamwork effort.
Harlee paused to take a breath and then took careful aim at the mutant frogâs heart.
Bullseye. The sound of the shot echoed as the mutant frog tumbled backward, motionless on the ground.
âHissâ¦â A sharp pain, as if endless needles were piercing Rhys, washed over him, with cold sweat forming on his forehead.
His hand clenched around his thigh, his knuckles whitening from the strain.
The pain was so intense that Rhys could barely stand upright. Yet, his concern remained fixed on Harlee.
âAre⦠are you alright? Did any venom get on you?â
Harleeâs gaze softened. Rhys⦠In his torment, he still prioritized her safety.
