Chapter 370:
Belinda fixed Rhys with a stern look.
âWhat are you implying? Do you even see us as your parents anymore?â Her tone was cutting.
The maids nearby were terrified, wishing they could vanish. The dynamics of the wealthy were too much for them.
Rhys responded with a mere indifferent glance, choosing to remain silent.
His relationship with his parents had always been formal, limited to holidays and necessary contact.
He had once discussed his business endeavors with his father out of respect, but he now saw his parents didnât deserve that respect.
Soon, Rhysâ parents were visibly nervous.
Confronted with Rhysâ unwavering stance, they felt compelled to yield.
Jose suddenly looked a decade older.
âWe acted out simply because we assumed you were being mistreated by the Sanderson family, and yet this is how you repay us? Alright, if you think weâre wrong, weâll stop.â
Belinda quickly echoed Jose, tears streaming down her face as she insisted that her actions had all been for Rhys and the Green family. She blamed Rhys for not appreciating their efforts, but seeing Rhysâ unchanged demeanor, she reluctantly conceded.
âYour fatherâs right. If you donât want our involvement, weâll withdraw. We wonât meddle in the Sanderson family affairs anymore.â
âDo what you will.â Clutching her chest dramatically, Belinda complained, âWhy must I endure this? For my sonâs sake, I clashed with my best friend, and now my own son turns against me and questions me⦠It hurts so muchâ¦â
In the end, Rhysâ parents resorted to emotional manipulation. Yet, just like Harlee, Rhys wouldnât fall for such tricks.
After getting his parentsâ promise, he stood up and casually walked out the door, indifferent to their potential sadness. Since childhood, Rhys had understood that his parentsâ affection was conditional, closely tied to their personas and ambitions.
Belinda stared after Rhys as he walked away, her face marked with bitterness.
How could he be so ruthless? Even after everything, he still remained unaffected! It seemed Nathaniel had taught him to be just as relentless.
Belinda wanted to express her anger but restrained herself, murmuring to her husband, âI told you we shouldnât have let your dad raise Rhys. Now heâs not aligned with us. It hurts that the child I brought into this world has actually turned against us.â
Rhys had always maintained the necessary respect for his parents, but this new anger was something entirely different.
Jose and Belinda blamed this change on Harlee.
Jose tried to comfort her.
âDonât worry. Iâll find a way to talk to him.
Heâs been under his grandfatherâs influence for years.
He wonât cut ties with us over just some witch!â
Belinda cuddled close to Jose, showering him with sweet praise, all while secretly planning how to make things difficult for Harlee.
