Chapter 365:

Rhys was interrupted mid-sentence by Fletcher, who cut in coldly.

“How dare you? You cancel the engagement at will and now propose as you wish.

Do you think the world revolves around you?”

Fleming chimed in with a sneer, “Or maybe you’ve come to admit your mistakes now that our family has caused you some losses? That would really prove you’re a coward!”

Rhys calmly explained the misunderstanding and narrated how he first met Harlee and his feelings for her.

His expression resolute, he continued, “Lonnie, I admit it was wrong to overlook the long-standing friendship between our families and to abruptly call off the engagement. I am ready to accept full responsibility.”

Fletcher raised an eyebrow skeptically, sneering, “Given your resources, uncovering Harlee’s true identity should be simple. Is this lie poorly constructed, or are you just incompetent?”

Rhys paused, taken aback that even the Sanderson family was unaware of Harlee’s multiple personas. It gave him a slight sense of relief. It wasn’t a matter of his insignificance to Harlee.

With a more serious expression, Rhys looked at the Sanderson family.

“I honestly failed to uncover it.”

Just as Fletcher was about to mock him further, Kareem stepped in, redirecting the conversation.

“We can accept your apology, but don’t even think about the marriage proposal.”

Kareem wasn’t speaking on behalf of Rhys.

He was more concerned with protecting Harlee’s different identities.

Rhys’ face betrayed a flicker of anxiety, but he responded calmly, “I truly love Harlee.”

“Rhys, are you certain you still want to propose to Harlee?” Kareem asked, his smile polite yet carrying a cold sharpness.

Rhys, undeterred by the challenge, nodded firmly.

Kareem’s tone remained gentle but carried an underlying threat.

“I’ll give you another chance. Think carefully before you nod again.” His smile was bright, but it held a subtle menace.

The Sandersons exchanged confused glances, each reading uncertainty in the other’s eyes. No one had a clear understanding of Kareem’s intentions, yet no one dared to intervene. In the Sanderson household, he was known for his composed demeanor.

Rhys, however, faced the implied threat without fear.

He nodded decisively, as if he were a ruler and the others on the couch were merely his court.

“Absolutely. No matter when or how often you ask, my answer will always be the same. I will continue to respectfully propose to the Sanderson family until you fully accept me.”

Kareem let out a quiet laugh, his gaze chillingly detached.

Then, he clapped his hands, unapologetically.

Everyone present was further confused, completely in the dark about Kareem’s intentions for the day.

All eyes turned to Kareem as he rose to his feet, his voice carrying an undeniable authority.

“Very well, your bravery is commendable.

But I advise you to resolve your family matters before approaching the Sanderson family.”
