Chapter 357:
Harleeâs smile turned playful and confident.
âIâll help you secure the twenty billion.â She paused, her face growing serious as she added, âBut you must go through with the coronary bypass surgery!â
Previously, while inquiring about Spragueâs condition, Harlee discreetly texted Aldrich, requesting that he retrieve records of Spragueâs coronary bypass surgery within ten minutes.
However, the search came up empty. There was no sign of any records online. In fact, during the supposed surgery period, Aldrich found that Sprague had actually been on a business trip.
Harlee felt both anger and distress. She understood that Sprague struggled to separate from his duties at the National Aerospace Agency. Once she grasped his situation, she committed to helping him steadfastly.
Caught off guard, Sprague paused and instinctively exclaimed, âHow did you find out?â
Harlee looked up slightly and said, âIâve given you a year already. If you donât undergo the surgery by next week, forget the twenty billion, and Iâll stop my involvement with the National Aerospace Agency.â
While Harlee spoke with Sprague for just a couple of hours, the news of Rhysâ proposal attempt at the Sanderson familyâs gate had spread like wildfire.

Everyone braced to witness Harleeâs humiliation, only to be caught off guard by Rhysâ unexpected proposal shortly after he had called off the engagement. Rumor had it he had brought extravagant gifts and even offered a valuable piece of property, only to be rudely dismissed by the Sanderson familyâs servants. The Green family received no respect whatsoever.
At the Green residence, Jose and Belinda sat on the sofa, while Lindsay sat a bit away, all in silence.
After hearing that Rhys had been rejected during his proposal attempt, Jose and Belinda sat expressionless, their faces stern. Only Lindsay quietly took pleasure in the moment. She believed that after the scenes Rhys had caused, Belinda would never allow Harlee to marry into the Green family.
Even if Rhys was fond of Harlee, what did it matter? Belinda held the ultimate authority in the Green family, and she wouldnât allow a woman she disapproved of to marry.
âMr. Green, Mrs.
Green, please donât be too upset. Rhys might have been attempting to smooth over the tensions between the Green and Sanderson families,â Lindsay said, masking her inner glee.
Joseâs eyes burned with anger.
He slammed his hand down on the table.
âHeâs shamed the Green family and disgraced his mother and me!â
Lindsay thought about how Rhys had insisted on proposing despite the humiliation, even enduring the Sanderson familyâs mockery. She was filled with a sense of satisfaction at his discomfort.
Belinda fixed a piercing look on Lindsay, her expression cold.
âLindsay, you mentioned earlier that Rhys kept you from entering the Green Group. What was that about?â
