Chapter 325:

Upon hearing this, Lonnie’s and Skyla’s expressions softened, and they enveloped Harlee in a warm, reassuring embrace.

“Sweetheart, you’ve endured so much,” Skyla whispered, her voice quivering with heartfelt emotion.

In her covert perch, Etta allowed herself a smug smile of triumph. She gave Harlee a piercing, disdainful stare, her lips curling into a sneer.

Really, what was the value of all those prestigious titles Harlee possessed? In the end, it hadn’t stopped the Green family from canceling the engagement.

Etta bet that no man would ever want to marry Harlee, a woman who was soon to be called off the engagement.

After throwing one last contemptuous look at the affectionate family gathering, Etta fished out her phone and swiftly tapped out a message. With a self-satisfied smirk, she anonymously broadcasted it across Baythorn. Then, with a defiant swish of her coat, she marched back to her room.

The prestige of being considered a Sanderson had lost its appeal.

Clenching her fists, she made up her mind. She would claim Rhys as her own.

Meanwhile, upon learning of the Green family’s blatant disrespect and disregard for the longstanding friendship between their families from Kane, Brenton immediately cut short his meeting and dashed back home.

As he hurried home, Brenton tapped furiously on his phone, firing off a message to the Sanderson sons’ group chat.

Kareem replied with a sharp edge, “Brenton, shall we teach the Greens a lesson? Once I’m done with my military meeting, we can plan it out properly.”

Fleming chimed in confidently, “The Green family’s hospitals have ties with our research institute, right? I might not be able to take down the whole Green Group, but targeting a couple of their medical facilities? Consider it done.”

Clint, adding a bit of levity, replied with a crying emoji, “Guess I’ll just sit back and wait for the best moment to make a move, as always.”

Fletcher’s gaze sharpened as he read the text messages. Without a word, he began to stow his fishing equipment in a calculated, measured manner.

Having resolved the earlier mix-up with Harlee, Brenton withdrew the sanctions he had imposed on the Green family.

An old man nearby queried, “Calling it a day so soon, Mr. Sanderson?”

With unwavering serenity in his dark eyes, Fletcher responded, “My sister has been bullied. I need to get home.”

He departed abruptly, leaving the words hanging in the air.

The old man stared after him, puzzled, murmuring to himself, “Harlee was bullied? Really?” He shook his head dismissively and returned his attention to his fishing rod.

“If someone crossed Harlee, they’d likely regret it deeply.”

After lunch, Lonnie and Skyla retreated upstairs to rest. On her way out for her Baythorn University lecture, Harlee paused in surprise as Brenton appeared in her path.
