Chapter 282:
Once inside the exhibition hall, Aldrich couldnât help but chuckle.
âHarlee, your acting is more convincing than some professional actors! I wouldâve believed it was your first time gambling on stones.â Had he not witnessed her effortlessly identify a stone that turned out to be a rare and valuable shade of jade, he might have actually fallen for her performance.
Harleeâs smile disappeared as she sternly said, âOne more word from you, and Iâll find someone else for the next mission.â
Aldrich promptly fell silent. While inspecting the raw stones, Fritz spotted Harlee, the woman he had encountered on the plane and at the hotel. Just as he was about to approach her, he caught sight of his brother.
He quickly turned away, wishing he could vanish right there.
âFritz!â Aldrich called out.
A shiver ran down Fritzâs spine as Aldrich clasped his neck, forcing him to stand upright.
Fritz tried to bow his head, but Aldrich pulled him back up.
âAldrichâ¦â Fritzâs voice was so low that even Harlee, nearby, couldnât catch it.
âYou still remember me?â Aldrich clasped Fritzâs hand and slapped his back.
Fritz almost yelped in pain but managed to hold it back. There were too many onlookers, and he wanted to maintain his dignity.

Harlee, noticing the interaction, raised an eyebrow and tapped Aldrich on the shoulder, signaling him to sort out his personal issues. She then wandered through the area like a beginner. While assessing the rough stones, Harlee subtly scanned the room, familiarizing herself with the layout.
As she approached the central display of rough stones, she casually looked toward a corner and then upwards, smirking slightly.
âInteresting.â There was heavy security around it. She quickly averted her gaze, maintaining the demeanor of an amateur.
Hidden behind expensive artworks in the corners and above were several individuals, ropes ready for a swift descent. When Harlee glanced their way, they felt exposed.
At the exhibition hall entrance, Rhys and Merritt had just exited their vehicle one after the other.
Before they could take a few steps, the hospital called to report that Hamiltonâs condition had worsened.
A hint of concern flashed in Rhysâ dark eyes.
After a brief pause, he murmured, âYou go check on him. Iâll enter the casino myself.â
Merritt instantly grew worried.
âNo, Benedict is way too cunning. If he discovers youâre the one interfering with his plans, I fear for your safety.â
Rhys dismissed his concerns with a wave of his hand.
âDonât worry. Todayâs just a casual meeting. The public jadeite bid isnât the place for any drastic actions.â
Moreover, Rhys had no plans to involve himself directly.
