Chapter 282:

Once inside the exhibition hall, Aldrich couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Harlee, your acting is more convincing than some professional actors! I would’ve believed it was your first time gambling on stones.” Had he not witnessed her effortlessly identify a stone that turned out to be a rare and valuable shade of jade, he might have actually fallen for her performance.

Harlee’s smile disappeared as she sternly said, “One more word from you, and I’ll find someone else for the next mission.”

Aldrich promptly fell silent. While inspecting the raw stones, Fritz spotted Harlee, the woman he had encountered on the plane and at the hotel. Just as he was about to approach her, he caught sight of his brother.

He quickly turned away, wishing he could vanish right there.

“Fritz!” Aldrich called out.

A shiver ran down Fritz’s spine as Aldrich clasped his neck, forcing him to stand upright.

Fritz tried to bow his head, but Aldrich pulled him back up.

“Aldrich…” Fritz’s voice was so low that even Harlee, nearby, couldn’t catch it.

“You still remember me?” Aldrich clasped Fritz’s hand and slapped his back.

Fritz almost yelped in pain but managed to hold it back. There were too many onlookers, and he wanted to maintain his dignity.

Harlee, noticing the interaction, raised an eyebrow and tapped Aldrich on the shoulder, signaling him to sort out his personal issues. She then wandered through the area like a beginner. While assessing the rough stones, Harlee subtly scanned the room, familiarizing herself with the layout.

As she approached the central display of rough stones, she casually looked toward a corner and then upwards, smirking slightly.

“Interesting.” There was heavy security around it. She quickly averted her gaze, maintaining the demeanor of an amateur.

Hidden behind expensive artworks in the corners and above were several individuals, ropes ready for a swift descent. When Harlee glanced their way, they felt exposed.

At the exhibition hall entrance, Rhys and Merritt had just exited their vehicle one after the other.

Before they could take a few steps, the hospital called to report that Hamilton’s condition had worsened.

A hint of concern flashed in Rhys’ dark eyes.

After a brief pause, he murmured, “You go check on him. I’ll enter the casino myself.”

Merritt instantly grew worried.

“No, Benedict is way too cunning. If he discovers you’re the one interfering with his plans, I fear for your safety.”

Rhys dismissed his concerns with a wave of his hand.

“Don’t worry. Today’s just a casual meeting. The public jadeite bid isn’t the place for any drastic actions.”

Moreover, Rhys had no plans to involve himself directly.
