Chapter 277:
âWhere is that woman?â
The butler responded, âMr. Shakica, per your orders, she remains locked in the basement.â
âStill not talking?â Benedictâs voice was tinged with frustration.
The butler nodded solemnly.
âCorrect.â
âGive her one final opportunity,â Benedict ordered.
âIf she remains silent, kill her.â
âUnderstood.â The butler bowed and left, his face darkening as he made his way to the basement.
In the basement, a woman in a ragged white slip dress was sprawled on the floor, barely clinging to life. This was the real Karina.
Karina curled up, frustration rising within her as she endured three entire days without food. Three days earlier, while trying to pass through Claeliaâs security with her luggage, Karina was seized and brought back by Benedictâs men. Since being locked up in the basement, she had been largely ignored.
Regarding the woman who perished during the clash on the bridge that day, it was not Karina, but her identical twin, Karis Miller.
Karina had been aware of Karisâ affair with Aaron for some time. Not wanting to share her husband with another woman, Karina intentionally instigated Aaron to anger that man, leading to Aaronâs demise.

Following Aaronâs death, Karina persuaded Karis to assume her identity, giving Karis the guise to seek vengeance for Aaron. Karina was aware of Karisâ naive and impressionable nature, betting that Karis would be affected by Aaronâs death.
As Karina had expected, Karisâ recklessness in seeking revenge for Aaron led to her being locked up.
However, Karina hadnât anticipated that Karis would manage to flee with Benedictâs aid and even try to assault the man from Mogluylia with Benedictâs armed forces. It was only then that Karina realized the situation was spiraling out of control.
But by then, it was already too late. She was captured and locked up.
The butler, covering his nose and mouth with a handkerchief, with a flicker of something unreadable in his eyes, signaled for someone to pull Karina out. Karina, drained of all hope for survival, allowed the bodyguards to drag her along without resistance. She could never bring herself to agree to Benedictâs task.
As Karina looked up and saw the butler, her eyes widened, and they shimmered with recognition.
âYou areâ¦â Karina frantically reached out to clutch at the butlerâs foot.
As she reached, two strong men aggressively pulled her back, pressing her face harshly against the floor.
âLeave me be! Donât touch me!â she screamed.
âYouâre Conley Richardson. Youâre supposed to be deadâ¦â
Conley squatted down, concealing his revulsion, and responded coldly, âItâs your honor to be granted the chance to work for Mr. Shakica. Make a wise choice.â
