Chapter 272:
Kareem let out a deep sigh, his frustration clear. The mission he originally planned for Harlee had been straightforward.
However, after she provoked him, he ended up assigning her something far more challenging.
Harlee paused for a moment as she processed the information.
Considering the current situation, the best way to give the border troops some breathing room was to target the man who had taken over Aaronâs power. If they could spark internal conflict within the Shakica family, it might destabilize its seemingly peaceful but deeply corrupt political landscape.
Harlee lowered her eyes and quickly sent a message to her contacts on her phone.
By then, the van had reached a dense, rugged forest, navigating through the challenging terrain until it arrived at a remote hideaway.
âThis is our base,â Kareem said.
âIf things get too intense, you can always fall back here.â
He reached for the car door to exit when Harlee caught his hand.
âWait, Kareem.â
âDo you trust me?â Harlee asked.
âAbsolutely,â Kareem replied.
Harlee took a deep breath before outlining her plan. She explained that she had allies in Claelia and could assume an alternative identity to effectively manage the crisis.

Kareemâs expression shifted to one of surprise.
âAbsolutely not!â
Kareemâs military jurisdiction did not extend to Claelia, and he worried that if unforeseen events occurred, he wouldnât be able to assist Harlee promptly, placing her at risk.
Harlee had only recently returned, and he was neither willing nor ready to take such risks.
A hint of concern showed in Kareemâs eyes as he met Harleeâs gaze and firmly said, âItâs too risky for you to go alone.â
Harlee looked serious, her voice even firmer.
âKareem, you know this is the best approach! I understand the Shakica family dynamics better than you, even better than your soldiers! Moreover, the Shadow Moon Society has connections in Claelia, and infiltrating with my own identity will be more effective! Donât worry. I fully understand the mission involves infiltrating the Shakica family, locating that man, and working with him to stir things up.â
Kareem could not object.
His military role would only hinder her further. Seeing his hesitation, Harlee added, âOnce this operation is done, I want to train with the soldiers. No need for additional assignments, or Iâll think youâre just taking advantage of me!â
This mission seemed perfectly suited for her. She trusted Kareemâs motives but regarding the commanderâ¦
How could someone so high-ranking allow military protocols to be bypassed just for personal favors?
