Chapter 264:
Meanwhile, in Claelia, on the route to the airport, Hamilton was seated to Rhysâ right.
Always curious about the Sanderson familyâs recently reconnected daughter, Hamilton kept up with the online chatter whenever possible.
As he saw the unanimous change of opinion, he suddenly had a realization.
He turned around, wanting to report to Rhys, when a sudden loud noise interrupted his thoughts.
Gunshots rang out, startling Hamilton as he peered out the window to see their convoy, usually guarded by bodyguards, now overrun by enemies.
âMr. Green, itâs Karina.â
Hamilton grabbed a handgun from the back seat and began firing out the window, quickly identifying the hostile vehicles.
âThere are four enemy cars, and Karinaâs is right up front.â
Rhysâ brow creased slightly as he surveyed their surroundings.
A bridge loomed ahead, and Rhysâ gaze turned icily focused.
âAhead is the bridge. Thereâs an eighty percent chance theyâll make their move there. Zahir, speed up and try to get past them,â Rhys instructed.
Zahir Dixon, seated behind the wheel, furrowed his brow as he surveyed their enemies.
âThat wonât help. Theyâre deliberately blocking us. We canât shake them off before the bridge.â

âThen we jump!â Rhys ordered.
Zahir accelerated toward the bridge, unlocked all the car doors, and sharply turned the steering wheel, slowing just enough to crash through the wooden railing. The car teetered over the river for a moment, and as the doors flung open, the three occupants jumped into the water below.
âDammit! These sly foxes!â Karina slammed her fists against the steering wheel in frustration. She drew her handgun, aiming at Rhys and the others, and began firing recklessly.
While firing relentlessly, she lost control of her own vehicle.
âBoom!â An explosion erupted, sparks scattering as Karinaâs pursuit ended in disaster.
âAaron, my love, Iâm coming to join you,â she murmured with a slight smile.
âIâve shot that man. Iâve avenged you.â
In the river, Rhys and Zahir reached the safety of a large rock under the bridge.
âWhereâs Hamilton?â Rhys asked.
Taking a moment to assess their situation, Rhys and Zahir realized something was wrong.
Glancing back into the river, they saw Hamilton, barely conscious and sinking, surrounded by blood-tainted water.
They quickly swam toward him.
At that moment, backup forces arrived, and Karinaâs remaining accomplices were eliminated in their vehicles.
