Chapter 168:
Brixton couldnât hold back his laughter any longer, letting out a chuckle. The receptionist, who had been struggling to keep a straight face, also burst into laughter. She just couldnât contain it any longer.
Lindsayâs face went from white to red with embarrassment as the laughter echoed around her.
How could Rhys dismiss her like this? Her hands shook violently.
As the eldest daughter of the Morgan family, she had never faced such humiliation.
Lindsay watched Rhys walk away in disbelief, her hands clenched tightly. Why was Rhys treating her this way? Wasnât she the only woman meant to stand by his side? Or had he found someone else? No! She wouldnât allow it! Even if it was his fiancée, chosen by his mother, she was determined not to let anyone replace her.
Marriages could end in divorce. She refused to accept that Rhys could never be hers!
With Ablettâs help, Lindsay settled onto a sofa in the lobby, momentarily stunned, before she took out her phone to call her childhood friend, Wade Brooks.
He was the fiancé her family had chosen for her.
Currently, Wade was dealing with a scandal involving a female celebrity.
âHello, Lindsay, what brings you to call me out of the blue?â He gestured for the celebrity to keep quiet and moved toward the window.
Lindsay began to cry softly.
âWade, I fell, and it really hurtsâ¦â Her crying intensified until she could no longer speak through her tears.
Realizing something was wrong, Wade promptly asked about her location. Lindsay was not just any woman. She was his fiancée, chosen by his family, destined to be his lifelong partner.

He understood the significance of their bond. Moreover, they had known each other since childhood. If he werenât running an entertainment company and constantly surrounded by celebrities, his heart would belong entirely to her.
âIâm at Rhysâ companyâ¦â Lindsayâs voice trailed off.
Wade didnât doubt her, aware of her close relationship with Rhys and her frequent visits to him.
âStay in the lobby. Iâll be there soon.â
Before Wade left, he comforted the celebrity.
âLet the PR handle this for now. Iâll take care of it when I get back.â
The female celebrity was understanding and didnât hold him back. She even supported his decision to leave. She knew her role as an employee who needed her superior to manage her scandals, not as his hidden lover.
But soon, that might change.
Upon reaching the restaurant, Brixton walked into his reserved VIP room.
He had notified the owner ahead of time, so the staff had prepared the dishes in advance, and they could start eating right away.
âHey, Harlee!â Brixton called out upon seeing Harlee near the private room.
âAre you here for a meal as well? Come join us!â
Harlee looked over at Rhys.
Did Brixton and Rhys know each other?
Brixton made a casual introduction.
