Chapter 158:

Harlee reflected on her situation. She was being too reactive and needed to find a way to initiate.

“Okay, Tonya, continue monitoring Matteo’s locations for me. Once I’ve sorted things out here, I’ll head back to Uwhor to meet up with you.”

Tonya’s mouth turned up in a smile.

“No need. I’ll come to you.”

Harlee feigned a completely unsurprised expression and nodded.

“Harlee, what’s with that look?”

Harlee chuckled and said, “Okay, I’m not teasing you anymore. What made you decide to come back all of a sudden?”

“Take a guess,” Tonya teased.

Harlee took a bite of the delicious lobster, savoring the flavor before responding, “It’s either for a man or for food. Is there a third possible reason for you?”

“You’re so irritating! It’s neither this time!” Tonya pouted.

“Send me five hundred, and I’ll spill the beans.”

Harlee sent over one million instead.

“Does this make you happy?”

“Looks like leaving that heartless Gill family has done wonders for your wealth. I love the generosity!”

“Are you going to tell me or not?” Harlee arched an eyebrow, her expression mixed with a touch of frustration. She allowed herself to soften only when she was with Tonya.

Compared to her past with the Gill family and her present with the Sanderson family, Tonya felt more like her true family, and she was Tonya’s only family in the world.

Tonya went on about her reasons for coming back, and it turned out Harlee was spot on about it involving men and food.

As their conversation continued, the topic changed.

“Harlee, how’s the Sanderson family?”

Thinking about the Sanderson family’s treatment of her, Harlee nodded.

“Everything’s fine, except for the somewhat brainless fifth brother.”

“Brainless?”

Harlee brought up Etta.

“Tsk, you’re destined to meet manipulative people, aren’t you? They seem to find you wherever you go,” Tonya said with annoyance.

“Just wait. I’ll come back and sort out those manipulators for you.”

At that moment, Tonya suddenly grew excited.

“Oh, by the way, about Rhys, the one you mentioned last time.

Did anything develop between you two?”

“No.” Harlee’s expression was unchanging as she looked up.

“Really?”

“Tonya,” Harlee said, her tone more serious than ever.

“I’ve told you before.
