Chapter 1457:
Those individuals would have faced far worse fates if there had been time.
Silently, Cillian and Patrick stepped back, retreating to guard the churchâs entrance against any further disturbances.
Meanwhile, Benjamin, who had been shot repeatedly, lay sprawled on the floor, his life hanging by a thread. Initially, he had attempted to flee, but each step was met with another bullet to his limbsâhe was nothing more than a moving target to them.
Benjamin lay there, his eyes filled with resentment, his body trembling uncontrollably as he faced the agonizing choice between enduring pain or embracing death.
The bride, Emilia, whose heart was fragile, collapsed at the sound of the first gunshot. Had it not been for Benjamin using her as a shield, she might have remained unconscious.
âI⦠I was wrong⦠Iâm sorryâ¦â
Emilia knelt on the floor, her voice trembling as she crawled toward Thiago.
âThiago, I was wrong. I shouldnât have betrayed you. But you must understand, I was compelled. All these years, Iâve never forgotten youâlet alone Riley! Riley⦠Thatâs right!â
Suddenly, Emilia grasped Thiagoâs leg, her eyes desperate as she looked up at him.
âThiago, Iâm Rileyâs mother. For Rileyâs sake, canât you forgive me just this once? You wouldnât want Riley to grow up motherless, would you?â

âYou donât deserve to speak of Riley!â Thiagoâs retort was sharp, and he raised his gun to her head. But Robbie intervened at the last moment, pulling on Thiagoâs arm and causing the shot to stray, striking Emilia in the shoulder instead.
Before Thiago could react, Robbie spoke firmly, âNo matter what, sheâs still Rileyâs mother. Donât stain your hands with her blood.â
With that, Robbie fired, ending Emiliaâs life.
âThanks, bro,â Thiago said, clapping Robbie on the shoulder in gratitude. He understood Robbieâs point. Even though Emilia hadnât fulfilled her role as a mother, she was still Rileyâs mother, and nothing could change that.
Benjamin witnessed Emiliaâs collapse, his face a mask of horror.
âYou killed Emilia? You actually killed her?â he exclaimed in disbelief.
âNo, itâs impossible. That woman swore you wouldnât dare! She deceived me⦠Iâm going to make her pay!â
The relentless gunfire and his mounting injuries had pushed Benjamin to the brink of madness. He scrambled on the floor, searching desperately for his phone.
As Benjamin struggled, Thiago and Robbie exchanged a glance, both thinking of Nola.
Thiago lowered his voice, asking, âHarlee, do we need to pry it out of him?â
Harlee, observing Benjaminâs futile struggle, replied coolly, âHeâs just a pawn to be discarded. Donât waste our time on him.â
Yet, Benjaminâs mention of Nola confirmed their suspicions of a deeper conspiracy. After waiting so long, Nola was growing increasingly impatient.
With a smirk, Harlee mused that it would be far easier to strike now that Nola was cornered.
Harleeâs eyes flickered with cold determination. Without a momentâs hesitation, Robbie raised his gun and delivered a final shot to Benjamin, who was flailing in despair on the floor.
âLetâs go,â Harlee said, a rare smile cracking her usually stoic demeanor.
âItâs time for us to visit Claelia and settle some scores.â
