Chapter 1374:
There, Harlee settled onto the bed, unpacked her laptop, and powered it on, immediately receiving a video file from Jianna. This was surveillance footage from the Happer estate in Baythorn.
Harlee eagerly clicked to open the footage, but the file wouldnât load. After trying again, she discovered her laptop had been hit with a virus.
âItâs just a simple surveillance clip, yet encrypted with layers of passwords. What are you hiding that needs such high security, Nola?â Harlee murmured to herself, her fingers flying over the keyboard.
Her initial oversight of the videoâs encryption had led to the virus infection. Nonetheless, she quickly remedied the situation, bypassing the encryption and resolving the virus issue within five minutes.
âNola even makes sure this video auto-erases every three days.â With a knowing smirk, Harlee picked up her phone to text Jianna. âSurveillance issue sorted. Iâll send more instructions after I review the footage.â
Jianna quickly replied, âForget the instructions. I need to start running for my life now!â
As Harlee held her phone, her hand tightened instinctively. She quickly sent Jianna a message, asking, âWhatâs the situation? Have Nola or Tania uncovered anything?â
ââ¡â â¤ââââ£â⢠ââ ââââââ¥âââ¢.âââ
Jianna replied almost instantly, âBoth, but they didnât discover my identity.â With tension mounting, Harlee bit her lower lip, her anxiety deepening, especially after noticing the alert, âThe other party has abruptly logged out,â on the Shadow Moon Societyâs dedicated app.
Harlee swiftly closed the app and attempted to contact Thiago.
When Thiago didnât pick up immediately, Harleeâs face grew sterner, her throat constricting with worry.
âHarlee.â The call was finally connected.
A sigh of relief escaped Harlee. âHave you located Jianna?â she asked. Background noises filled Thiagoâs end, amidst which Harlee focused on catching his response.
âWeâve found her location, but the meeting hasnât happened yet. Sheâs being pursued by Nolaâs agents,â Thiago explained.
In a steady tone, Harlee commanded, âEnsure her protection and maintain your cover.â She always kept her true feelings hidden from her team, never revealing her worries.
âOkay!â Thiagoâs response was notably resolute.
Harlee was adamant that no member of the Shadow Moon Society should come to harm.
After disconnecting the call, Harlee returned her gaze to the laptop screen, still fraught with unease. As she regained her composure, her focus intensified.
She then arranged all surveillance footage from the entrance of the Happer property on her laptop, dividing the screen into twelve segments and setting the playback speed to threefold.
Each video was reduced to a small quadrant, yet Harlee scrutinized every detail, making note of precise timings.
Remaining in the study, Harlee continued her vigilant observation for an hour. Her eyes grew weary, and her cognitive sharpness began to diminish. She stopped the video and closed her eyes, feeling overwhelmed. The barrage of incoming data had begun to cause a painful throb in her temples.
In under three minutes, Harlee opened her eyes again to see Belinda entering with desserts. âHarlee, please take a moment to relax. Iâve made a new dessert. Would you like to try it?â
âOkay.â Harlee spoke softly as she approached Belinda, picked up a cookie, and tasted it. âItâs not overly sweet, just the way I prefer. Thanks.â
