Chapter 1372:
Rhys gently caressed Harleeâs head, trying to offer comfort. âDonât worry. Patrick is also keeping an eye out. The operatives from Twilight are on it.â Harlee knew he was trying to keep her from falling into a depressive state again, so she made an effort to seem at ease. âAs long as youâre here, I have nothing to worry about.â
âItâs good you feel that way.â Rhys then turned to make a call to Patrick, his features set in a stern expression. âEnsure tight surveillance on the Happer family. I want immediate reports on any developments.â
âYes!â Patrick replied.
While Rhys focused on work arrangements, Harlee strode toward the main hall. There, she encountered the members of Twilight, who had just rushed over from the T&H Island.
Settling onto a couch, Harlee lifted her gaze to meet those assembled before her. She said softly, âSerena, Judson.â
In unison, they responded, âYes,â and stepped closer.
âJudson, I need you to escort Serena back to our base in the rainforest,â Harlee instructed.
After a momentâs pause, she turned to Serena. âOnce you arrive, collaborate with Kareem and his team of experts to urgently assess the virusâ contagiousness and formulate targeted treatments. Make their safety your top priority.â
âUnderstood,â Serena responded, clutching her medical kit. She and Judson picked up the plane tickets from a nearby table and set off without wasting a moment.
After a moment of reflection and a slow sip of her milk, Harlee called out, âRobbie.â
Robbie quickly moved forward.
âFigure out a way to track Nolaâs activities. If it becomes too risky, give it up. Your safety comes first.â Harlee added sternly, âStay out of Nolaâs sight while handling this task. If youâre spotted, reach out to members of our organization for help right away.â
âGot it!â Aware of her heightened concern due to previous events, Robbie acknowledged her instructions with a nod.
Cillian exchanged looks with Robbie and then Harlee, his silence speaking volumes. He was prepared to step in and assist Robbie if called upon.
âJianna is already keeping an eye on Tania. Cillian, I need you to assign twenty of our best to guard Remson Manor.â Though the measure seemed drastic, Harlee preferred to stay cautious.
Cillian, visibly reluctant about the conservative approach, eventually said with a nod, âAlright.â
Harlee then distributed additional assignments to roughly ten others, focusing mostly on monitoring Nola and safeguarding undercover members.
Once briefed, the group dispersed from the hall to begin their tasks, leaving Desmond by himself.
âWhat about me, Harlee?â Desmond inquired, pointing at himself in slight confusion.
âThe role I have for you is crucial. Soon, Iâll share the entire strategy with you. Youâll be commanding the operations.â
With an eerily calm demeanor and an unreadable face, Harlee pointed out her assignment as if it were a mere casual chat. Desmond had been with the Shadow Moon Society the longest and had the best relationship with the members of Rhysâ underground organization, making him uniquely qualified for this leadership role.
Desmond stared back at her, astonished. âCommanding the operations? Harlee, are you suggesting I step into your shoes?â He had never envisioned such a scenario.
âDo you see any issue with that?â Harlee asked, raising an eyebrow.
