Chapter 133:
âHmm? Whereâs your proof?â
Maurice, exasperated, shouted, âIsnât an eyewitness testimony sufficient? The police officers who escorted you here saw everything. My sonâs arm was broken!â
Harlee faced the officers and asked, âDid any of you see me strike his son?â
The group of six police officers recalled the scene vividly but chose to shake their heads.
âWhen we got there, Mr. Shipley Diaz was already in bed, hardly alert. Miss Sanderson and that gentleman were near him, but no assault was witnessed.â
âIsnât that proof enough?â Maurice shouted.
âThey were the only two in the room with my son. Who else could it have been?â
Ritchie gave a wry smile.
âWho can say? Youâre known for underhanded tactics. Maybe you broke your sonâs arm yourself to set us up? After all, itâs not like you havenât tried to harm your own son before!â
âYouâ¦â Mauriceâs voice dripped with disdain as he pointed accusingly at Ritchie, his words slicing through the air like ice.
âMy son? Someone as worthless as you claiming that title? Listen closely. You are merely the result of your motherâs indiscretion.â A cruel smirk twisted his lips as he let out a manic laugh, relishing his cruel revelation.
Ritchie stood frozen, shock rooting him to the spot.
âYour mother is a disgrace!â Maurice continued, his tone malicious.
âAside from me, she has been withâ¦â
Ritchieâs anger boiled over.

He lunged forward, seizing Maurice by his shirt, his eyes blazing with fury.
âEnough! Do not speak another word against her!â
Harlee quickly intervened, grabbing Ritchieâs arm to hold him back. She leaned in, her voice low and urgent.
âKeep your calm. This is a police station.
Donât let him catch you slipping.â
âMr. Swain, he might lack proof, but Iâm not empty-handed!â Harlee said to Callum confidently.
Harlee then presented a video on her phone, the footage showing the Tartarus Clubâs interior.
âDue to my bet with Shipley, it was only natural for me to check on him at the hospital.
However, Shipley had already suffered severe injuries when I arrived. This footage from the Tartarus Club clearly shows Shipleyâs hospitalization has nothing to do with me.â
âNo, that canât be! How do you have access to that?â Maurice stared at Harlee, horror-stricken, as if he had just seen a ghost, unable to grasp the implications if Harlee truly had connections with Rhys.
He surmised Rhys must have extended a small courtesy to the Sanderson family, leading to Harleeâs possession of the clip.
While Maurice was plotting his next move, Harlee presented more evidence, hospital surveillance footage.
In the footage, Harlee and Ritchie walked into Shipleyâs ward, and not long after that, the police arrived.
Both Harlee and Ritchie were positioned about a hundred meters from Shipley, who bore visible bruises on his face.
