Chapter 1165:
Rhysâ response read, âIâve watched each one at least three times. Is it okay to start the next batch now?â
Goodwinâs reply came through.
âAre you certain youâre prepared for those?â
Rhysâ response was straightforward.
âIf you delay further, Iâll have Hamilton fetch you back here.â
Shortly after, several video files appeared on Rhysâ screen, along with another message from Goodwin, saying, âThese are strictly for your viewing. Miss Sanderson must not find out about these!â Rhys was about to type a reply but paused when he saw the âtypingâ¦â indicator from Goodwin.
Suddenly, a new message popped up from Hamilton.
âHarlee is on her way to find you. Make sure she doesnât catch you with those soap operas!â
Rhys tensed up, quickly locking his phone and stuffing it into his pocket.
He also swiftly closed the video on his tablet.
Harlee arrived just in time to see Rhys clearing his viewing history. With a smile, she said, âWorried Iâll catch you watching soap operas? Iâm not stopping you. No need to erase your tracks.â She crouched down in front of him and teased, âI can watch them with you, you know.â
Relieved to see she wasnât upset, Rhys eased a bit.
Clearing his throat, he explained, âThere was nothing interesting left, so I deleted it.â
âReally?â Harlee felt that familiar, unsettling sensation again. She couldnât dismiss the feeling that Rhys was concealing something significant.
âWhy are you here, anyway?â Rhys asked, attempting to divert the conversation as he clutched the tablet tightly.
That gesture⦠It was as if a child were protecting their favorite toy. Seeing his guarded demeanor, Harlee experienced a twinge of irritation.
âWould you prefer it if I were too occupied to visit you?â
âWaylon didnât ascend to his position by his family name alone.
Even if he isnât suspicious now, once you start moving against Liliana, itâs only a matter of time before he becomes wary. Shouldnât you preemptively neutralize this looming threat?â Rhys looked somber, his voice tinged with seriousness.
Harleeâs expression softened into a charming smile as she said, âI thought you were too engrossed in your dramas to notice much. It seems youâve been quite observant all along!â
âOh, I just overheard a little,â Rhys replied with a touch of arrogance.
âYouâve only lost a fragment of your memory, yet youâre still able to analyze so much? It seems your skills are as sharp as ever,â Harlee said, clearly impressed.
Considering his progress, he should be able to fend for himself soon. Though his feelings for her had cooled compared to three years ago, he was now capable of self-protection, easing her worries about his safety.
Rhysâ face lit up with even more pride upon hearing her words. Seated on the floor, he gazed up at her with shining eyes.
âI want to go back to the Green Group.â
âWhy?â Harlee raised an eyebrow.
