Chapter 1162:
Liliana was confused. It seemed unlikely anyone would willingly take the blame for them. No one was that naive, unlessâ¦
As Liliana pondered, a sudden realization struck her, and her eyebrows arched.
âAre you suggesting we use my grandma?â
âExactly! It appears youâve become more competent under Waylonâs protection.â Valentinaâs smile bore a trace of pride, and then her expression hardened as she said, âWeâve supported that old woman long enough. Itâs time she repaid us.â
After speaking, Valentina sighed and continued, âLiliana, I know I was wrong about sending you to Waylonâs bed, but you have to understand that everything Iâve done is for your own good. We are related by blood. I would never harm you.
Do you understand?â
In the past, when Liliana had lived a sheltered life, she followed Valentinaâs guidance dutifully, and they maintained a harmonious mother-daughter relationship.
Having experienced lifeâs trials and matured, Liliana now saw that her mother had always used her as a puppet. No one desired to be manipulated. Liliana was determined not to let Valentina orchestrate her life like she did in the past anymore.
âMom, go ahead with your plan. Iâll support you in every way I can from behind the scenes.â Liliana dismissed Valentinaâs attempt at emotional appeal and steered the conversation back to their plans against Harlee.
âTake your time.
After all, your grandmother and Skyla have had a falling out. It wonât be easy to mend that relationship. They need a moment to cool off.â

As soon as Valentina finished, a loud bang outside jolted her, causing her to crash painfully against the edge of the table.
âOuch⦠That hurtsâ¦â Valentina groaned, rubbing her bruised area in irritation.
âWhatâs going on outside?â
Disregarding Valentinaâs discomfort, Liliana stepped outside with a frown, muttering to herself, âIt sounded like an explosion.
But this is Waylonâs villa. Surely it couldnât be a bombâ¦â When informed of the existence of a bomb, Liliana gasped, and her frown deepened.
âA bomb? Here, in the villa?â
The idea that someone had planted a bomb in this villaâs garden had never crossed Lilianaâs mind.
Despite bomb experts determining it was an old explosive, buried for at least two or three years and accidentally set off by a gardener, Liliana suspected it was deliberate rather than a mere accident. She found it hard to believe that something so bizarreâand nearly impossibleâcould happen to her. The only explanation was that Harlee was behind the bomb, using it as a warning to her.
With this thought, Lilianaâs fists clenched so tightly that her palms turned white.
âHarlee, you linger like a persistent shadow.
Donât think I wonât retaliate!â
Meanwhile, inside the villa, Harlee sneezed. She rubbed her nose and muttered, âWhoâs cursing me now?â
At that moment, Robbie burst in, brimming with excitement.
âIâve got fantastic news! Everythingâs unfolding perfectly!â
