Chapter 1006:
Harlee arched an eyebrow, her gaze laced with playful mischief.
âBrenton, even you dislike work so much. Why on earth would you think Iâd enjoy it?â
Brenton sighed, his shoulders slumping, disappointment clear on his face.
As Harlee turned to leave, he called after her, âHey, what about once a month?â Harleeâs help in dealing with the troublemakers in the company once a month would allow him to focus on corporate battles against competitors.
âOnce every three months,â Harlee shot back over her shoulder without pausing.
Brenton chuckled, watching her retreat.
âThree months, huh? Better than nothing, I suppose.â
Later that evening, Harlee made a trip to Tonyaâs villa, where they went over a few actionable strategies.
Before leaving, Harlee casually mentioned her plan to involve Rhys.
âI wouldnât expect anything less!â Tonya exclaimed, clearly impressed. She had been worried that Harlee might let emotions cloud her judgment, but instead, Harlee had emerged sharper, ready to wring every ounce of utility out of Rhys.
Thinking back to recent events, Tonya hesitated before asking, âBy the way, whatâs your plan for Noel?â Harlee blinked, confused.
âPlan? What plan?â
Tonya sighed.
âYour engagement with Noel.
Donât tell me youâve forgotten.â

Harleeâs expression faltered briefly. Truthfully, she had completely forgotten. In fact, she hadnât spoken to Noel in days.
Clearing her throat, she rubbed her nose awkwardly and muttered, âWell⦠I guess Iâll find some time to take him out for dinner. You know, as a thank you for his help with the act.â
Tonya facepalmed.
For all of Harleeâs brilliance, her emotional awareness was practically nonexistent.
With a resigned shake of her head, Tonya leaned in and gave her friend a playful tap on the forehead.
âHarlee, you really ought to consider those around you.â
Harleeâs brow furrowed, baffled. Since when did Tonya start spouting cryptic remarks?
Tonya caught the confusion in her friendâs expression and sighed inwardly.
Harlee was utterly cluelessânot only about Noelâs feelings but also about who Tonya was hinting at.
With a teasing smile, Tonya tapped her index finger against Harleeâs temple and said lightly, âHonestly, if I didnât spell it out for you, would you ever figure out that Noel is head over heels for you?â
Harlee froze in disbelief. Noel? Interested in her? That couldnât be true. They were simply acquaintancesâa doctor and patient, maybe occasional companions. She was closer to Robbie than sheâd ever been to Noel. Why would Noel feel that way about her?
Tonya stared at Harlee, sighing.
Hopeless.
