Chapter 1004:
âMiss Sanderson, what is the meaning of this?â
Harlee, disregarding the question, asked calmly, âAre you here for my brother? What do you need from him?â Before Dina had arrived, Harlee had already signaled for Brenton to conceal himself.
Through clenched teeth, Dina asked, âMiss Sanderson, are you aware that you nearly harmed me just now?â Harlee dismissed her concern with ease, replying flatly, âThatâs not possible. The knife wasnât aimed near you.â Her gaze sharpened.
âNow, tell meâwhy are you looking for my brother?â
Dina had intended to corner Harlee into apologizing, but Harleeâs commanding presence wiped her thoughts clean, prompting her to blurt out her prepared inquiry.
âIs the recent layoff list personally approved by Mr. Sanderson, or did you decide on it?â
Harlee smirked.
âI made the decisions. What about it?â
Frustration mounting, Dina retorted, âMiss Sanderson, your impulsive actions have resulted in a fatality within the company! Do you realize that?â
Harlee raised an eyebrow. Was it the body that had just been brought back from the morgue? Or the one who hallucinated under the influence before taking his life? With a slight tilt of her head and a barely-there smirk, Harlee responded calmly, âNo, I wasnât aware.â
Dina was taken aback by Harleeâs blunt dismissal and lack of engagement with her concerns. She was momentarily thrown off balance but quickly regained her composure.
Pulling out her smartphone, Dina accessed the anonymous chat forum on the companyâs internal network, her tone filled with indignation.

âYour rash layoffs have led Jeff Reed to end his life by leaping from the building. The entire company is in turmoil! And when this news hits the public in the next ten minutes, our stock will plummet!â
âJeff Reed?â Harlee raised her eyebrows in feigned surprise.
Ah, Jeff had overdosed and hallucinated before his fatal fall. Not the sharpest tacticâa thorough autopsy would reveal the truth of his demise.
Anika wouldnât normally slip up this way.
Harlee suspected that Anika might have convinced Jeffâs family to reject an autopsy and turn down any company compensation, which could complicate matters.
Yet, Harlee remained calm as she took Dinaâs phone to look over the messages on the anonymous chat forum.
âJeff didnât secure his role through connections but with his competence.
Always ready to lend a hand, he was truly indispensable. Why would you dismiss someone like him, Miss Sanderson?â
âIt seems Miss Sanderson acts entirely on her whims. She has no regard for us as employees! She claims sheâs purging the company of incapable employees, but it looks more like sheâs eliminating those she dislikes.
Did you notice how many from Ms. Stonesâ team are on that list? Itâs clear sheâs targeting Ms. Stones!â
âReally, some of you just switch sides too fast. Just ten minutes ago, you were all singing Miss Sandersonâs praises.â
âPraising her for what? Thatâs only because naive people like you fall for her narratives.
At heart, sheâs just another spoiled daughter from a wealthy family.
